Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

A few things...
One, I am perfectly fine with a Best Buy, or any employee saying look, it's rumored the 24th but we aren't sure. That's the best we can tell you.

The problem is when everyone with a computer and their brother posts that as an official release...or my brother's buddy's ex-sister in laws niece works for Verizon (when actually she works for a mall kiosk) and she said it's gonna be XX Date for the phone.

At this point, does it matter? When the phone hits the phone hits.
It's going to be a success. It's going to work fine. People will love it.
Within a week people will find a few faults and complain the battery life sucks (cause they haven't put it down)...and some of us lucky ones will have 4G speeds with it. So you know we're not going to put it down.
I don't plan on sitting in front of my computer for a little while once I get mine, I want to see what it can really do....

I've read most of the 99 pages by now, and I'm not sure if it has been discussed, but I was in my local BBY today asking the mobile crew about the Tbolt. They have decided as a store to officially answer as "its rumored for the 24th, but we will call when we get it in". I like that policy on their part, at least they seem to be trying to get on the same page with each other, which in the past with this launch, has been no where to be found.
The most important part of my trip though, was asking the staff what would happen with the Best Buy Buyback if it came out after the 26th. They didnt have an answer for me, so they called the actual store manager over. He told me that since I pre-ordered it damn near a month ago (on the 6th), that he would definitely waive the $69.99 cost for me if it doesn't come out on the 24th. I do not think this will be the case at every BBY. Make sure that you talk to the actual store managers about this, because I am fairly certain that they are the only ones who can waive the cost of the program. I feel like I should have gotten it in writing though and my fingers are still crossed that this will be a non-issue and it will be released on Thursday of next week!

I initially wanted to do the Best Buy buyback program (since it will be free), but then I realized that I will be able to sell this phone for a lot more on eBay myself after a year than what Best Buy would give me for it, so it's kind of a rip-off. As long as I use a case and screen protector, it should still be in great condition then to draw high dollar. So even though I pre-ordered and should be eligible for it, I probably won't end up using it.

Since the new ad is hitting consumer homes already in some areas, even if it is for tomorrow's date, I wanted see if I could procure any indication of a release prior to the 24th. So I called BB for ****s and giggles and the gentleman I spoke with was familiar with the phone, but stated that he did not currently have any on hand. He also stated that they expect a truck for deliveries tonight and would know for sure tomorrow morning if they will be selling the TB or not prior to the 24th and to call back. The only way to verify if they are to be delivered tonight would be to check the manifest, which apparently only the warehouse supervisor have access too.

Anyone on here a BB warehouse supervisor?!

Someone would have to actually go check the pallett that will come off of the truck. As interested as i am for this phone, my job is too important to me lmfao. I'll asked my buddy if a shipment comes in today. I have to close tonight.

I just happened to do the online chat on bestbuys website. Here is what i got from the agent.

I just surfed the Best Buy online site, clicked on weekly adds, and narrowed it down by mobile cell phones....and what did I see when I scrolled to the last one...Drumroll please....The HTC Thunderbolt....AND...it showed it was soldout online...the price was $749.99 withh $500.00 off if purchased in the store...there was no "coming soon" stated anywhere...that pretty much tells me the lightening bolt has hit!!!!...I'm watching my clock for 11:00 am to call my local Best Buy to see what's up...
