Thunderbolt - Best Buy Availability/Pricing/Ordering Discussion

One thing I did notice on the sheet of paper they stapled to my receipt was that the offer to pick up the preorder expires on 2/16/11. It seems to me they must be planning to have them issued between the 14th and the 16th. (14th was the date I was told at the store too.)

Can Best Buy adjust your New Every Two date?
If Best Buy is the only people carrying the TB on Monday, I may go ahead and get one there. It's beginning to look like that might be the case.
However, my NE2 date is March 15th.
Can the people at Best Buy change that date or should I call Verizon on the phone first and ask them to do it?

call verizon. i did that and as long as ur within 30 days they should do it for u. u may have to keep trying as u may get denied at first, but eventually u will get someone who will approve it for u. u may have a hard time as ur upgrade is a little longer than 30 days out, but if u tell them ur planning on getting the thunderbolt that may help ur case. good luck!

I don't think they can tinker with your contract other than to renew it and sell you a phone.
I think that is quite an assumption that BB will have it monday. I bet Verizon told them it would be released on the 14th, changed the date, and "forgot" to tell them. Serves them right for throwing Verizon under the bus last November with the whole Droid Pro and Droid 2 Global fiasco... Either that or BB is going out of their way to make Verizon look like the bad guys, "They said the 14th, we don't know what happened!"

they do have the authority to change ur upgrade date. I had it done in october. like i said the first person you talk to may not approve it, just call back and talk to someone else until u find someone who will. it took me 3 calls and but i got it done. i know people r going to say this is cheating the system, but its not. we r obviously wanting to stick with verizon and renew our contract for another 2 years. verizon losing 1 month of guaranteed service by doing this is a lot better for them then us just waiting for our contract to expire and going to another carrier just cuz verizon woudlnt help us out with something so small.
also, i know this doesnt mean much, but i just talked to a best buy mobile manager, a mobile service tech (1-888-BEST-BUY), and a best buy consumer relations rep and all 3 of them told me that they thunderbolt was being released on the 14th. this obviously isnt official as it wasnt from verizon in writing but its just hopefully more proof of it coming out next monday. CANT WAIT!!

I thought BB couldn't adjust your upgrade date, and that's what I was reffering to... and you say they can if you call, but it sounds to me like you are calling Verizon, who obviously can change your date. Just want to be clear that we are not talking about the same thing...

my bad, i thought u were talking about Verizon not being able to tinker. but yes, Best Buy CANNOT change your upgrade date, but Verizon CAN. Sorry for the confusion.
Very Slim=not gonna happen. There is no way they will honor your NE2 discount. If ur lucky they will take some money off of the price of the phone, but i HIGHLY doubt this as i have never heard of this happening. If you want your NE2 discount you need to go through Verizon
Cool. I'll give Verizon a call and work it out with them before I even bother going to Best Buy.
I'll go in Monday and try to buy one (assuming I can get the date changed), but there's no way I'm going to do a pre-order if they can't be a little more forthcoming about the price and date.

Man this is BS. It's making me hate iPhones way more than I did.
Yeah it sucks, its bad enough that this phone may cost $250. Its even worse that if you want to get it cheaper with your NE2 you have to go through Verizon. Hopefully Verizon will have it for sale on the 14th as well so that you dont have to wait for them to release it to get it.
Best Buy will eventually have it on sale for $200 or less though. I wouldnt be surprised if it happens within a month.
It isn't going to cost me $250 because I'm going to get it where my NE2 will be honored. No way I'll do it otherwise. I don't care how much I want the phone.

yeah its getting ridiculous. but its ok, cuz we all know we will have the superior phones running on the superior operating system.
