Thunderbolt or Iphone

I would stick with Android period. I am a tinker with my stuff and this os gives that perfect opportunity. I love my bolt has been the best phone I have had to date. I also have used the wife's fascinate, and the droid x and for me htc's overlay is the best. The iphone has its perks but for me it comes down to customization. I cannot change the battery, memory, themes, etc... the only thing you can get is the same phone case in 80 different colors and patterns...

Oh yeah and can't forget the 14 people at work with an iphone that think they are the bomb... I still have a signal though and 3/4g when they got nothing.

Depends on what you want. The Android phones of last year and the year before are the ones that started to make the platform seem more "consistent" as far as daily performance goes. Before then, it was so inconsistent with apps compatibility and force closings and lag. IMO, Android has stepped it's game up and is on par with iOS. But with iPhone, you do get a LOT of accessories and a lot of apps to choose from (so does Android, but iOS seems to grab a lot of them first)

the only think is that iphone has more accessories. more apps. not so much now. but there better be more accessories.. since there is only one phone to choose from lmao. i need choice. i need android. nuff said :p

To me the Android is like Windows OS vs. Apple. With Windows you aren't locked into 1 brand of PC...you have have Dell, HP, Compaq, IBM, Toshiba etc.....in order to run iOS...you have to have APPLE...period.

That is where ANDROID shines...it isn't locked into one mfg., 1 style of phone....if you have n HTC running GB, then move over to MOTO Bionic....it will be running GB...albeit it is running BLUR...but the core OS is the same across the mfg.

Well...Windows has their own phone. I guess a better comparison would be Android to...Linux? Oh, right, just like the OS Android is based off of!

Back to the OP, what I usually tell people is that if you really don't know whether you want an Android or an iPhone...then you probably want an iPhone.

Well, if you want to split hairs (which I am losing mine)....Apple iOS is based of the NeXT OS which was based of BeOS (Unix) which Linux is an offshoot and Android is the child of that......look, we have come full circle.....LOLOLOL.

I have had my Thunderbolt since July, and I must so for the most part I love it! Before the Thunderbolt I owned an Env Touch feature phone, and used an Ipod Touch, at that point I loved IOS, until I bought the Thunderbolt and found out how much you CAN do with the Android system. My sister recently purchased an Iphone 4S, and as much as I like Iphone for the life of me I could not consider going back to such a small screen, and using such a closed operating system! That being said though, I do believe the Apple Iphone has a huge lead over Android in regards to the general public. First there is the fact that almost every show you watch on TV, every movie, they seem to be always using a Iphone. It almost makes you feel that to own an Iphone is a "Status" symbol! I cannot lie, I am 37 years old and it kind of makes me jealous when I go out and see people using there Iphones, even when I know my phone cost more money, and has many more advancements. Secondly the way the Iphone holds its value has to say something about the phone, look on ebay, an old beat up Iphone 4 still sells for over $300.00, versus the Thunderbolt which has been out for less then a year is selling from between $100-$150 when they "sell", so the demand even for a used Iphone is still simply amazing! Then on Craigslist, everyone is looking for an Iphone, alot of people looking to trade their android phones plus cash for an Iphone. I would be amazed to see someone willing to trade even there old Iphone 4 for a Thunderbolt.

With all this being said, I still cannot figure it out, because so far I LOVE my Thunderbolt, battery is not to bad for me on 3G, customization is good, camera is awesome, GPS is cool (can't find that stock on iphone), I am pretty happy with everything about the phone! Although when I am eligible for a new phone in January 2013 it is driving me crazy with what to do, get the newest Iphone and feel "cool and included" (yes ISheep) or go with another Android phone which I honestly have come to love.. The choice will be confusing so I guess my best bet is to just keep my HTC Thunderbolt which I really like for the next 6 years, and save myself from all this confusion and decisions!! lol :)

Look, if you want a phone that is easy and just works out of the box the iphone is perfect. If you want to play around and change the look of your device and invest more time in making it work well android is better. I played with an iphone 4s over last weekend and the thing that struck me was how smooth the screen transition is and how fast the apps run....then I tried watching a streaming video and got bored waiting for it to load. Our phones are not as refined but they are "cutting edge" compared to iphones imo. Cutting edge never just works the way tried and true does. It depends what you want.

My wife has an ipad and I suggested that she get an iphone because she KNOWS how it works and she has little patience for the type nonsense we've dealt with (loss of data, reboots, hot phones, etc). I KNOW she would NEVER read these forums to figure out how to get the most out of an android phone.

Ironically, from using my rooted bolt and her sister's iphone she has declared that mine is much better and she wants "a phone like mine". I'll be doomed into setting it up and getting it to work perfectly all the time or I'll never hear the end of it. Under these circumstances I really wish she wanted an iphone!

Thank you everyone for all your input. I was finally able talk my wife out of the iphone. My Thunderbolts will be in tomorrow. My main reason was actually cost Iphone x2 =$400 whereas i got both bolts for $50 each with a $100 credit to my account...so basiclly i got them free! Thank you all again!

Congratulations. You will be happy. I'd say get the Rezound but since you're all done, the TBolt was a smart choice and definitely better than the iPhone. There's a lot you can do with your phone and the people on this forum are generally really helpful. From good apps to fixes, people here know their stuff. Since I got my TBolt on day 1, my most "I use this ALL the time" apps that I'd recommend are: 1) CarHome Ultra - if you drive a lot and want your phone to be easily readable and you use a bluetooth while driving. Awesome! 2) Maildroid app - you may like HTC's stock email app or you may use only gmail and not need another email app, but if you do, I recommend Maildroid as it works great, its fast, and the customer support is unparalleled. Finally, I recommend downloading either Swiftkey X or the free Gingerbread Keyboard (in Android Market)...those are three things I do often (drive, email, type) and these apps have made life easier. Enjoy your bigger screen and navigation - after a month you'll see people with iPhones and smile cuz you'll know you made the right choice.
