Thunderbolt Thursday Waiting Room HERE!

Hey Guys,
The THUNDERBOLT will be me and my friends first droid (all converting from blackberry) with that being said we are all not looking forward to losing our beloved BBM.....what android apps would you guys suggest to replace bbm absent of just regular texting....we like to see when msg's are delivered and read and also when the other person is typing and being able to do group chats as well....any ideas?? I have heard about live profile...kik...and others...would like something without a short character limit another great part about bbm...thanks in advance

VZW Corporate Stores Won't Sell Me a Tbolt

I've called around to three VZW corp stores within driving distance to me and they won't sell me the tbolt. When they look up my account they find that retentions put in an entry that said that I could upgrade anytime I wanted BUT, they didn't change the date of my contract. They're telling me that they can't sell me one without my contract date being pushed up because the system won't let them do that without charging full price.

So, I ended up calling Verizon and they saw the problem and the CS rep then tried to process selling me one today so that it could be shipped. The system wouldn't allow that and she finally put me on hold and went looking for her boss to see if this could be done.

Finally ended up getting it straightened out and with an exception to ship early. She told me that this would never have gotten an exception but for the fact that I had two major issues within the last three weeks with Verizon, a billing issue and then on one of the phones that I sent in on the trade in program they received the phone but lost it and then told me that they weren't going to give me any credit at all because they couldn't prove that I sent in the phone that I said I was returning. Those issues were straigtened out but because of that and the fact that my bill has always been paid perfectly, not even one day late ever, that they wanted to keep me happy.

So I won't be having to go to a store early and I won't get a phone early but I willl have one by the end of the day. Too many hours on the phone with Verizon in the last couple of weeks and I let them know how unhappy I was about it. I didn't yell or scream and I didn't make any threats to do anything that I wasn't prepared to carry out, in fact, I let them know up front that I was happy with the coverage and service quality but was totally unhappy with customer service and problems. At least in this case it paid off to be firm but fair and even had the CSR laughing on the phone while we dealt with the issues and finding a resolution.

I wish that was an option for me. I've actually got the day of from my regular job tomorrow, but I'm gonna be in leesburg tomorrow bright and early helping out my wife and the in-laws in their business, no real chance for me to grab one till we finish for the day, whatever time that ends up being.

I went by the Frederick store at lunch and the nice CSR said nope, not opening early (she did double check) but she disappeared into the back and brought out the dummy (non-functional unit) and a working (but not set-up) one for me to see, looks good but couldn't test it (I think she pulled it out the box and stuck the battery in so I could feel the actual weight and all).

I just went to a VZW store to see if they were taking appointments (which they weren't) and the guy told me to just come when they open since they had quite a few. He pulled open a drawer with about 30 Thunderbolts in it. I wanted to jump over the counter and take one haha. Either way I have an appointment tomorrow morning at BBY.

Best Buy just called me...

I just received a call from Best Buy. They are making appointments before the store opens tomorrow for those who have pre-ordered the Thunderbolt. Well, they are at my store in Tennessee. I won't have to fight the crowd! I'm so tickled!!
