You maybe right about RIM. I, like many others, gave up on waiting for the Storm 3. And now that I have seen the specs, I don't believe it would have been worth the wait anyway.

Like BMX has stated, Blackberry is gonna stay a float until they get there Tablet Software on a Phone. Then when that happens they will start to make waves.

I like the phone, I'm not happy with the calendar. I set appointments in my calendar and want them to notify me when I set the notification and that doesnt work. I can deal with the battery life issue, but a bigger battery in the 1750-1850 range would be nice with no changes in cover.

So I'll probably keep it.

Already returned mine due to poor battery life, went back to dx

It's a keeper! Best phone i have ever owned. This "Only lasts 5 hours" stuff is bunk. Unless your on this thing NON STOP, you should be able get through the day with juice to spare.

Keep your push notifications. I don't need to be notified what jane doe had to eat for breakfast this morning. I'll check things at MY leisure.

You know, I think that's why my battery is good when I'm not constantly browsing. I don't use Facebook or Twitter so I don't have updates all the time.

I'm 97% certain that I'm keeping the Thunderbolt.

I've come to it from a BB Storm1 and the difference is pretty much indescribable in just a few words.

I didn't dislike the Storm to the extent that many did. The radio got a good signal, never had dropped calls, email and such all worked well and, being a light-to-moderate user I'd often go 48 hours without having to charge it.

But there are times when I have to be able to access the web and doing that on the Storm was a royal pain in the arse.

Like many others I was holding out for the rumored "Storm3" but finally got tired of waiting.

Other than with the battery life I'm pretty happy with the Thunderbolt. Now I just have to decide if I'll be brave enough to root it. I had no problem putting hybrid OS's on my BB, but this rooting thing sounds to be rather more risky.

I am definitely keeping mine! I came over to Verizon from the BB Torch and I couldn't be happier. BB does a lot of things very well- I will miss profiles but I have not once thought about returning the Thunderbolt. It's a great device. My only disappointment is battery but it has improved a little over time. I feel that the many great things it does far outweigh better battery life. The Bolt is all I hoped it would be and more.

For the people who got their Thunderbolt's on the first day, the 14 day return clock in winding down.... and for any one else that bought one as well.....

Who is going to keep their TB and who is not?

I really, really wanted this to be a great phone "for me."

But I don't like the battery life, even though it's better now with bumping and tweaking.

I don't like the way the contacts are displayed and searched.
I don't like the way the calendar is displayed and searched.
I don't like the way the email is displayed and searched.
i don't like the way the text is displayed and searched.

It all has a look and feel of apps that were put together from a generic app building program by engineers. Light on style and ease of use. Much like a lot of the other cheap looking apps in the app stores.

The TB has a huge screen, but they didn't make the best visual or practical use of that size in their graphic design and layout of the calendar, contacts, email and text. Apple and R.I.M (OS5 - never tired OS6) both did a better job AND with SMALLER screens. You may disagree, but I am coming from a 33 year career in graphics and illustration, so maybe I look at things a little differently.

Sure, I can get used to it if I keep the phone - but I had high hopes, maybe too high, for my Blackberry replacement.

There is a lot to like about this phone, but also some disappointments on both the aesthetics and practical use.

Anyway, those are my thoughts.
Its funny most of your if not all your problems don't seem to be about the phone but about Android and HTC. The battery is an easy enough fix from what i've seen, But I think your being unfair towards the phone.
There are plenty of ways to fix your issues with the software like k9 for email and a 3rd party calendar, contacts app but about the text if you mean sms/mms you could use go sms/chomp sms/or handcent.

In my experience from rooting my own device and reading about others rooting , its not such a painful process and there is little to no chance of hard bricking the device. At most you'll probably soft brick which could be harmless. Though I suggest reading up on rooting and deciding if its really necessary for you to root or are you just fine with your device as is. Me personally I love custom boot animations, kernels , and Roms. But make sure the process is right for you before you dive in. And i'd think twice if your somewhat clumsy because rooting will void your warranty, and probably stop you from getting a new device unless you uh *accidentally* break it .

Going to keep mine. Battery life is decent since I've minimized the number of programs that update. All I have going are Gmail and Yahoo (both via push) and hourly updates on Weatherbug. It makes a big difference. I recently downloaded the Endgadget app and had the battery drop 50% overnight because it was updating every 20 minutes.

I don't know why this is funny; "My problems don't seem to be about the phone, but about Android and HTC."

I'm sorry, but this is a HTC PHONE, Made for the ANDROID operating system. So how is my problem NOT with the PHONE?

So what you are saying is, I can buy this phone - then discard the operating system and factory software in it and REPLACE it with after market software.

Thanks, but I think I'll pass.

Just saying if you get an android phone you will most like have to deal with Sense mods of Android of Blur mods of Android. Third party apps are the only real way around the way some manufacturers have their UI setup. And if your sticking with the Verizon network they don't have any "Vanilla" Android devices that are recent. But by phone I meant hardware issues like screen, buttons, speakers, kickstand. The phone can't help Htc put their interface in it.
And one of the reasons android is open sourced and free like it is is because they want you to use "Aftermarket" apps to make the phone unique for you.

I am keeping mine no doubt. My battery lasts about 7-8 hours for me and that is more than enough for me.

Unfortunately mine went back. Simply could not deal with the power button or the horrible LED. I could live with the first but not the other.

I was waiting for the Storm 3 forever! When Storm 2.5 was rumored I was so excited to get it. Glad it was canned.

The QNX BlackBerry phones may be good. We don't know yet. And we won't know for a while. I was ready for an upgrade after two years with the Tour.

I think I'm staying Android for a while.

I think it's quite obvious that RIM has all but abandoned the CE market. I guess once they realized that they could not keep up with the constant hardware updates that are typical of the CE market, they decided to do what they do best.

Which, in my opinion, is a good thing.

What's next? I know you've had it, with the X (3g/1x dance). I'm not pleased with the LED, on this thing. But, I really like this phone better than the X.
