[TOOL] - CleanTOOL 2.1 - 12/11 - The Relentless Pursuit of Clean!

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

Thanks MrSmith. I'm only pasting in the first portion (apologies to everyone for the still long string of text). I'm now noticing that it's erroring out when moving the files over during the root process. Not sure why that's happening. I'm downloading the CleanTool and extracting it into a folder to run from there. Thanks!

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

I used the tool and it worked great! No more bloat :D I deleted a couple lines that i wanted, but most is out of the drawer. Thank you!
For OTA updates, just change the "disable" lines back to "enable" and run that batch file?

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

@mjtwilly

Your problem is the "adb server is out of date. killing.."
If you installed the HTC sync drivers, make sure sync isn't running in your system tray. If it is, close it down and try again.

OTA's really are only system updates. You shouldn't have to change anything in order to receive them. Since everything is still installed and merely disabled, an OTA will still happen properly. The only thing it might do is re-enable a package and then you can simply just disable it again if need be.

Before I forget....If you use this script, please thank/like the OP. He put his time and effort in and asks nothing in return. If you've got a little extra paypal cash hanging around, donate to him on his homepage. These devs keep us rolling on nothing more than what I've mentioned above(thanks/donations).

Perfect! That got it. I'm now bloatware free! Thanks very much for the help

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

Had a little trouble with drivers but once I got that straightened out, worked like a charm.

The listed bloatware is GONE!

Liked, Thanked and Donated!

Thanks!

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

Hey scrosler, if you don't mind me suggesting, could the next update include processes for disabling "Mobile Hotspot" and "Foot Prints"? Maybe even "Mobile IM" as well. I consider those bloat, for the most part.
Either way, thank you personally, and +1 thanks on your original post. My app screen is looking seriously clean.

Sweet! Very glad you got it working! You are the MAN! Thanks Brother!

Good suggestions and I will take them into consideration with the next revision!

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

Thank you very much! First time Android owner as of a few days ago. Stunned to see how much crap my Rezound had and even more stunned that so much of it was unremovable. Had the same problem as the guy above first ("out of date" ... drivers were being used, didn't see the HTC icon) but then smooth sailing. Everything on the list is gone. Going to mod the batch file with a more exhaustive list found HERE tmo. Thanks a lot again.

Actually the exhaustive list is found on the original XDA thread. We mapped pretty much everything there was to even remotely disable.

I put it up on Droidforums, rootzwiki, and AndroidForums. I made sure to try to get you thanks and/or donations for your work. Everyone that hates Verizon bloat should be thankful to you for making this so easy.

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

Ok, here's my linux ported script for all. This should work for Mac users as well. In either case you need to have the Android SDK installed. This is CleanTOOL 1.1 and includes the BASH script and adb from the linux Android SDK.

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

"Install HTC USB Sync Drivers if not already installed". How is this done?

Go over to XDA, check one of the millions of temp root threads over there. Almost every one of them have HTC USB drivers. If you happen to get them directly from HTC, make sure sync is closed(on the PC) otherwise the process won't work right.

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

Awesome script/tool! I told myself I was going to wait for S-Off, but I couldn't stand the bloat anymore. It worked perfect. I added a few other programs from swilbert80's list on xda. Great stuff! Your work is much appreciated.

Re: [Tool] - CleanTOOL 1.1 - 11/29 - Even Cleaner than Before!

Scott,
Can you confirm this? I disabled the htc facebook, but since it's not completely removed I can't install the native Android facebook via the market. What I'm wondering(and will try later) is to freeze the app and then remove the apk from /system/app. Since it's frozen in the app database, it shouldn't come back right?
