Trade In Thread

Beware of Trade-in process - almost lost my mind this morning.....

I traded in a very nice Note 10+ phone. No scratches, or anything wrong with it. I took pics of it prior to shipping - condition and how i packed it. They received it last Monday. I have been waiting for an email about the trade. On the Samsung website it still said "in triage".

This morning I receive an email stating that i had ONE MORE DAY to decide if they were going to ship my trade-in device back as it had a cracked screen and cracked camera lens..........! I never received an email even stating this.

I finally got on Samsung Chat (that was a feat in itself). And the person said "it shows you have a cracked screen and camera lens" I stated "that is not accurate, I took pictures and nothing was cracked on the phone.". They told me to hold on to see how they could fix this for me.

Person came back and stated "Good news! We have manually updated your account and credited you the full value for your trade in. An email was sent to confirm this..." Sure enough, yes they accepted it magically and that's it. I asked what the issue was. NO ANSWER was given, just if there was anything else they could help me with.

Sounds so strange. Anyone else have this experience??
Sounds super shady to me...

I always keep my phone boxes and return them in the original box. I see these horror stories with every phone release, and they scare me. But my phones seem to sail right through the trade-in process with no problems.

Hyla Mobile is the company that reviews the trade-ins. They re-sell them afterwards. I'm guessing they pay Samsung a fee for each device they deem re-sellable. So the more they flag as not meeting trade-in requirements and unsellable, even if they are, is less money they would pay Samsung.

That's because the horror stories come from a very small fraction of people who do trade-ins. I completely sympathize with the unfairness that's inflicted on those few people, and I think they deserve to recover punitive damages in addition to the full trade-in value. Nonetheless, it's very unlikely to encounter these problems.

I just sent mine in and I agree with your small percentage description. Hope I don't jinx myself with that statement! I had to replace my 21 year truck last year and run into the same thing with that. Reading the owner forums for my truck, you would think that almost all the trucks were lemons. But of course the people who go to the forum to post are often looking for solutions to their issue. Happy truck owners are mainly not there.

My Husband received emails verifying that his s10+ & Tab s3 passed inspection & awarded the full trade-in amount on his s22U.

Dropped off at FedEx on Monday the 28th & shipped out that same day. Arrived in Tennessee on Thursday the 3rd. Approved on Monday the 7th. So about a week.

My Husband said it probably took the inspection team a day to get into the box as I had put so much tape on it.

:)

Been there, done that with my GWA2 trade-in for my GW4. Had to do the same thing - call and get huffy, Then they magically "manually updated"... Smh. Waiting for this with my Note 10 that they received on Friday 3/4 and still shows "PendingReceipt"on the website, even though got an email that they have received it.

Where on Samsung can I check on trade in?

Or do I just have wait to hear from Samsung?

Please explain me a logic of sending trade-in from the Dallas-Fort-Worth area to Tennessee, if others are sending their trade-ins from outside of Texas to Fort Worth. This time it was my second trade-in shipment to TN, before it was always to Fort Worth location.

Woo hoo. All good

Definitely keep us posted. I see the Note 20 Ultra bumped up from $600 to $850... If I can get another $250, I'll be all over it!

I think I will call tomorrow and just see what happens. The worst thing is they say no. I'm not unhappy with what I paid, but more money in my pocket is always appreciated.

How do I try? I traded in an s21 ultra as well at pre order. That's BS. We should get top deal for ordering so early.

Just call Samsung Sales and explain that the trade-in value increased after pre-order and that you'd like a price match.

They will price match once device is evaluated. If only FedEx can hurry up

Been close to 2 weeks in couple of days from the time I shipped. It's in Texas now so hopefully will deliver tomorrow.20220307_214658.jpg

I had two separate online chats with Samsung, one for me and for my wife and they both said we are eligible for the trade-in price match. We'll wait and see what happens. I have screen shots of the conversations.Screenshot 2022-03-08 004414.png

I am so glad that I take photos and video of everything before I trade in. I took photos and video of my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra while I was placing it in the box for shipping. I woke up to an email saying I had cracks in my camera lens. I said "I don't f'n think so. I immediately started an online chat with them and sent them pictures of what I had and demanded that they send me photos of what they had. Moments later they said I will receive full trade in credit and I will not be charged. I have attached photos of what I sent in. I don't know what the hell they were talking about. Make sure you all take photos and video to cover your end.
