Trade In Thread

AT&T received and updated my account to show trade-in complete, $1000 applied under their terms, and worry over. :p

I was a little concerned... I sent it in two Mondays ago and they used Pitney Bowes (shown on shipping label) as their return method and it was difficult to track when they got it or how it's processed from there. Just had to wait and see it completed on my AT&T app. But glad no issues.

Non-issue with my trade in to Verizon thru Samsung. The phone was definitely damaged too. I asked Verizon before shipping and they said they still take it. It went to Samsung and then Verizon. Maybe some if the issues are if you have an unlocked phone.

No unlocked has nothing to do with it in this situation. Verizon and the carriers were taking any phone, damaged or not damaged, Samsung was not taking damaged phones. The only thing damage wise that disqualified a Verizon trade in was battery damage.

I've done a few trade-ins over the years and, fortunately, never had an issue. Generally, I re-use the box from the new device, leave whatever case I have on the phone for added protection, and stuff the box with material from my paper shredder.

As to upgrade credits, I never get much on the old phone due to age. I skip at least one model - often two. And the wife gets my old phone, so the trade-in is whatever device she has, which is about 4 models or more back. The trade-in only adds value by qualifying me for a promotion, such as the 23u discounted pre-order this round.

Is it me or has Samsung actually gone cheap this year as far as trade-ins are concerned? Last year I traded in my S 21 Ultra for $850 and got the S22U and a free Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 for $399. And this year all they give us is $400 off and that's in bill credits. I may be better off selling my S22U on eBay and get more than they offer. I can use that money for down payment on the S23U.

If it's bill credits that's the carrier. Samsung gives the trade in value right away.

Yes, the trade in amounts were low this year and probably years to come. Meaning I'm probably going to go to 2 year upgrades
