Transformer 3.1 update. Here it is.

Same poor performance.
However, browser performance is much better and smoother.

Strange, I found youtube 720p playback very smooth now after the update. I'm using the youtube app and searching for my videos that way instead of the direct site if it makes any difference.

Before the update I was considering a return based on the laggy 720p youtube playback, now I'm much happier.

Also in version 3.0, the youtube videos defaulted to HQ quality on the youtube app. Now they default to HD quality.

Edit: I also noticed that when it shows "HD" quality, iit is sometimes obvious that you are watching an "HQ" quality youtube stream. At the same time it is also obvious when you are watching 720p due to the high quality image. Perhaps the HD symbol is defaulting to the videos highest resolution available not to surpass 720p.

OK, I just went to the direct youtube site and watched a 720p video, lots of lag. Not acceptable at the youtube site.

Please use the youtube app to watch a video that you know to be at least 720p and let me know what you think about the quality of the video. Looks really nice to me using the app. Videos that were really laggy for me at the youtube app on 3.0 are now very smooth on 3.1

Storage reading is much more intuitive as well, pretty cool.

This is BS! Which button do I click on to the the 3.1 upgrade file and not all the crap they are trying to push??

On MicroSDHC
mkdir ASUS
mkdir Update
ren decompressed .zip from tarball to US_epad-user-8.4.4.5.zip
insert MicroSDHC in TF101
Look for alert showing system update detected.
Done!

No hard resets, or system bootloader tricks. Just Update from Honeycomb
Of course make sure you are at 50% still.

This is the quickest, easiest and probably safest method to do this. Took me about 5 minutes to finish and did not involve anything other than pressing the 'update' button once my TF auto-recognized the update off my SD card.

OP should replace with this method, IMO.

3.1 is great, love the fluidity and also the re-sizable widgets.

Agreed, this method works well if followed properly.

I did everything you have listed. How long i should wait for alert to show up? I have inserted microSD card with update on it 15 min ago, and nothing is going on. I seems like TF does not see card, but BEFORE i put update on it everything was OK!
Any thoughts?

After a reboot, a user notification should arrive in five minutes or so that the docking station has a firmware update available to version 0209. Please follow the instructions and update the docking station and then complete another reboot. The 0209 firmware offers improved typing speeds, mouse tracking and USB compatibility.

After the complete reboot I never received the 0209 notification. However, on the "About tablet" screen it shows MobileDock version EP101-0209. So I guess I am good to go.......

Thanks.

I get the Exclmation mark inside the silver triangle with the Android robot next to it...any ideas why?

Tap your notification area. It'll tell you what it is. In this case it's found the update on your card and is waiting for you to start it.

For some reason my PC sees the transformer as a Portable music device and not sdCard. When i place the update inside and unplug the USB, the update package deletes

The file need to be on the removable sd card not the internal sd card
