Tried Razr Going Back To My Charge Til Nexus Comes

I don't understand how people see a non-removable battery as a deal breaker, but are totally fine with non-removable storage. I feel like people are just creating excuses as to why other phones aren't as good as their precious Nexus, and when they get the phone they are going to pass off the defects and put it on a pedestal.

They've been holding out so long that they are blind to anything but the Nexus. It's a shame. What on earth does the Nexus have over the competition anyway? ICS? Whoop-de-doo. ICS is coming to the other big devices (which are equally if not superior to the Nexus in terms of build quality and specs) in a very short amount of time. Granted, it is stock Android, but with the skins coming so close to stock it terms of customization, and what they customize actually ADDS to stock.

Personally I'm going to be getting the RAZR, and while it may have shortcomings over the Nexus/Rezound (see screen resolution), there's no need to dismiss it for stupid reasons such as non-removable battery or "tethering issues" or it being "too wide". It's a great time to have an upgrade because we have 3 fantastic choices, each one with a choice audience. RAZR is an all around fantastic phone which appeals to the masses, Rezound appeals to audiophiles, and the Nexus appeals to people who just can't wait for their software upgrades. Honestly, do you really notice THAT much a difference in screen resolution from RAZR to Nexus?

1) Yeah, the screen will be noticeably different.

2). It's not a deal breaker for me, but I don't think it's a "created" problem. A lot of people are power users, and depend on the security of having a second battery with them. No reason to blame them - some people need a phone to last them longer than a single charge of a stock battery will let them.

And the Nexus has a lot going for it. Firstly, updates will be pushed to this phone in a prompt manner - there won't be much waiting. It will also have a huge dev following and likely will also have a lot of ROM support.

The appeal of a nexus isn't ics, although it does serve as the face of it for now. By the time these other devices get ics we will be anticipating 4.5 which will appear on the nexus first and owners of other devices that just got up to date will have to wait, even longer this time as each OEM will have their new flagship devices.

Kind of like how the Nexus S is most likely on the same time table as other devices for ICS? It will be first to get the first few updates, but after a while when Google has a new flagship, you'll be waiting like the rest of them. And ROM support? What does that bring to the table?

After the nexus s came out the nexus one still got its gingerbread update well before OEM phones. Gingerbread STILL isn't the biggest is version a full year later. If you think that is acceptable then by all means stay with slowly updated devices. As far as custom roms, no phone will have as much support as a nexus.

Back to your original question, I will turn it back to you: what is offered in the rezound or razr that is not in the g nex?

The Nexus can power and run an external storage devices thru cheap adapter chord.... Not the most ideal situation but it is a decent work around for not having a sd card.

If your battery dies on a Razor (EDIT* clarify... I've had 3 batteries in the past 5 years die on me ), you have to get a new Razor. There's no convenient work around, you need a new phone.

I have had the Thunderbolt since upgrading August 30th. I love the phone. There are many Thunderbokt users who are happy with it as well.

Ok, so the Nexus isn't for you? No need to come in here and raise hell about it. Enjoy your RAZR....it looks like a nice device. I held one the other day and it was definitely a nice phone. That said, I'm still looking forward to th Nexus. Doesn't mean I have to head to the Rezound or RAZR forums and troll.

Just browsing through the Razr, Rezound, and Galaxy Nexus forums. I have an update and am interesting in hearing about each one from various users.

The Razr will probably be my last pick of the three. I have had two Droid 2's and was pretty disgusted by them. I had the first replaced because of a screen defect (lemons are understandable of course). I assumed that the lagging, freezing, and constant need for battery-pull was part of the phone being a lemon. But, the replacement phone I got behaved exactly the same. And my two friends with Droid X's have the SAME issues. This is my first strike against Motorola.

Strike 2 is definitely the non-removable battery. I don't care what anyone says. I won't go back to the iPhone because of this (among many, many other reasons). I leave my phone in the car charger whenever I'm driving. I let it overcharge constantly. I'm not sure if this actually damages the battery life--some say yes, others say no. Point is: I don't want to monitor my charging or "prep" my battery when I buy my phone. If the battery sucks, fine, I have to buy a new battery. I don't want to have to replace the whole phone. Plus, I carry two spare batteries in my bag incase I get stuck without a charger.

All that being said, the Razr would have to do something spectacular for me to buy it when there are other phones that are more suited to what I want.

Not ruling the Razr out, but I'm definitely leaning towards the Nexus or Rezound.

Well, lets see: screen=nexus wins, processor=nexus wins, OS=nexus wins, Update support=nexus wins, NFC=nexus has it, removable battery=nexus has it, skin=nexus doesn't have one, developer support=nexus wins. In fact, the only area where the razr definitely wins is sd card. Build quality is usually always motorola, but I have heard complaints about how wide it is and I've heard a lot of people who love the build quality and design of the gnex. Moto usually has the best radio's as well but I've heard negative reports about that. Oh, and last but certainly not least and probably this one thing ends the dispute without all the others being mentioned: the razr has a LOCKED BOOTLOADER! The nexus is as open as a device can be. So where exactly do you see an argument that the razr is near as good as the nexus?

Meh

Moto has better Radio's and the two phones are the same width but the Nexus is 1/4 inch longer.

Wonder how they compare on battery?

See the post above yours to see just how many categories the nexus beats the razr, very simple.

So..you're saying that it wins across the board without even using it? From what I hear about the Rezound (which has a faster processor than GN), the increased resolution is having a negative impact on performance. I suppose build quality doesn't count for anything either, considering the GN doesn't have Gorilla Glass like the RAZR, or nanotech splash guard like the RAZR, or Moto quality parts like the RAZR. NFC? Seriously? Who cares about NFC? Honestly, if the phone runs well, what does dev support do? Give us updates that weren't meant for our phones in the first place? Last I checked, blur isn't blur anymore and it's pretty damn close to stock. Bloatware problems? Bloat doesn't even affect performance anymore if the phone is worth its salt.

Really not trolling here, just putting things into perspective for you people with your rose colored glasses and "my phone's doesn't stink" attitude.

Oh.Em.Gee.

Show me one test (preferably real life) the S3 cpu outperforms an omap4. Just.one. No? Bummer, dude.

Which is faster, a higher clocked core 2 duo or a slower clocked i5? The i5 you say???

Oh and test results showing the sgx540 hanging with the Mali-400, even though a much higher resolution? Hmmm, higher resolution having a negative impact on performance....got it.

It doesn't have Gorilla Glass? Haven't had a phone yet without GG...all my devices have scratched. A brand name is as silly as brand loyalty with a cell phone.

You can go sit down now.

PS: We have someone testing a Razr on IRC. Suffers from slowdowns due to the non-Blur you speak of. Battery also sucks. Time for an extended...wait, no I guess not. Oh and that green hue at low brightness is sexy too.

Oooh, ooooh, oooh, I know, I know. The rezound and razr have awesome bloatware and advertising on them that the Nexus will not have. Do I win a prize for answering? LOL

Now be nice.

The Razr also has a splash guard, but open usb and audio jacks so that you can feel secure it won't soak into the screen, and only ruin it via open ports. Don't forget what you see is what you get on battery.

Um...

Oh yes. The Rezound has an equalizer and bass heavy earbuds. Thump. Thump. Thump. I cannot wait!

32GB can be a lot. The battery life? Not so much. People like having spare batteries just in case. I'm not sure if you know about power users but they can drain the battery pretty easily.

Why come in here when you want a RAZR? Why question people complaining about certain aspects of the RAZR then do the same for the Nexus?
