Trouble rooting *rips hair out*

I followed all the instructions to root my samsung galaxy s4. Everything appears to of went through ok but then superuser is coming up with some binary update thing and when i installed root checker it says i dont have root access. Please help i am so darn frustrated i am about ready to throw the phone.

search for "towelroot" from your phone's browser. quick and easy way to obtain root. I don't recall having any issue with updating bindary either. (I installed SuperSu and also BusyBox). What's happening? I haven't done anything else with it since (and now my son uses it as a wifi-only device for his games and videos)

Will towelroot work on android 4.2.2? My phone wont update its software through AT&T/Samsung so thats a part of the reason why i'm rooting.

Towelroot should work on 4.2.2, but if a software update is what you're after have you tried Kies desktop software?
