Twitter notification sound?

So is this a Twitter App fail, or a Samsung OS fail, or an Android OS fail?

Even if Samsung made a change, Twitter has had ample time to make ringtone selection possible. No other app has an issue with ringtone selection. It's clear that Twitter does not give a **** about its users.

screenshot of a photo? Android has a built-in screenshot maker. Usually "sound- and power" to hold a few seconds. enjoy

Not sure what this has to do with Twitter notifications...

I can only assume you are referencing the photo of my wife's phone screen. Sometimes it's easier to snap a quick photo than to do a screen shot, transfer the photo to my phone, and post it.

I registered just to reply to this thread. I've been so frustrated with this as well, and I just found a fix over at a different forum (not sure if linking is allowed so I won't be posting the link to be safe).

Basically, you can download a file explorer app (e.g. ES File Explorer), then when you choose your ringtone inside the Twitter app choose that app instead of the default 'Media Storage' app.

If you already have a file explorer app installed, you will have to clear the defaults of your 'Media Storage' app first via Settings -> Applications, and then Twitter will ask you again which app you want to use for choosing the ringtone.

As for the ringtone itself, I wasn't able to directly access all the default ringtones because it only seems to have access to the sdcard folder, but it should be possible to go into the actual file explorer app, copy the ringtone you want from system -> media -> audio -> notifications, and paste it somewhere inside sdcard folder. Then you can go to Twitter -> Ringtone -> select file explorer, and choose the ringtone you pasted. Voila!

Sorry if my thoughts seem a bit disorganized. Just so hyped that the issue was finally fixed after months of cringing every time my Twitter notifications start to get spammed.

Well I'm using the very latest twitter app for Android lollipop 5.1.1 from the playstore, and I can confirm that the twitter mobile customised notification ringtone defaults back to the default ringtone no matter how many times you try and change it.

It has to be a bug in the Twitter application surely.

Sorry but this did not work to resolve the issue for me.

Yes, and even attempted contacting Twitter in various other ways but never got a response.
Same here, it's like they just don't care.

It was working fine with the previous twitter version under KitKat 4.4.4.

Waiting on the next twitter update for Android lollipop that will hopefully address the issue.

Twitter updated 5.101.0 and still the issue persists.

By the way, I installed twitter again and noticed that the Xperia for Twitter account doesn't show, is this on yours?

Solution

1. Download & install Es Fe Explorer from playstore
2. Open Twitter, Settings, Notifications, Mobile Notifications, Ringtone-> (Change using Es Explore )
3. Done, ( uninstall the app now if u want to )

Why don't twitter just fix this?

Two things is it the one called Es File Explorer, the one with the light blue icon in playstore? Also are u saying that once it's installed then once I go to the ringtone section within Twitter settings then I should see the file explorer as one of the options?

It isn't a solution as the sound Picker in lollipop within Twitter settings doesn't bring up apps to use only sounds.

For those that the ES file explorer solution worked for, do you have issues with it reverting? I've tried that in the past, and I just tried it again but eventually my system notification ringtone gets set to match twitter again.

Not sure what you mean, are you saying that it's back with custom ringtone again without using any extra file explorers?

Actually i think i just figured this out. I have an app to change my volume periodically (off at night on in the morning) and i think its setting my system notification ringtone as well. Sorry for the confusion!
