Twitter notification sound?

The workarounds are OK but its more than that. I receive notifications from road accounts amongst others. In the morning I will see if there are any traffic problems but now Twitter uses default notification meaning my phone now vibrates all through the night!

On twitter I have vibration turned off and the standard tweet sound. When I turned the phone down at night they were barely audible. Now when it defaults back to the phone one, I get the default phone sound and two long vibrates which I believe cannot be turned off (and if I could virtually everything would no longer vibrate)! It's those night vibrations I want to remove most as it's pointless putting the phone into silent!

I just don't understand why have the option there for twitter ringtone customisation when it just doesn't work, and they don't appear to want to fix it.

Have tested the File Explorer workaround and it works thank you! It allows me to turn off the vibration check box and stay off unlike what I previously wrote so the options to change these inside the Twitter app itself have to be down to not saving when clicking back. I switched off the vibration dozens of times but never worked until now.

This means that any app that uses sounds for notifications that doesn't allow change will use whatever you use when changing in file explorer.

I have set my Twitter notification sound to 'Tweet' (quite analogical) & it works perfectly (Note 4).
I update my apps almost every day (if there is an update from Play Store, of course) & it's on latest version, I believe.

For this issue you are facing with Twitter, clear cache & data of the app & then it should work. If not, then drop an email to the dev to fix the issue.

I've sent many emails to the developer and they've done nothing to fix it on any of their updates.

Another Twitter update from Google play store and still the ringtone issue persists.

Still not fixed after another update today, think we'll just give up on this now, support on twitter is useless as they just ignore this bug.

I signed up to this forum just to tell you guys there is actually a solution to this issue.

just search MegaSound on playstore. is an app who will allow you to setup custom notifications sounds for each app. chose twitter, put your mp3/wav/anything and..voila.

works like a charm for me
you're welcome :)

Does it bring up the same ringtones which includes tweeters for twitter?

Go to setting in twitter from your phone.
scroll down to display and sounds.
----then check the sound effects box
now go back to settings main page
now change your ringtone sounds as you have been trying.

That check box was already ticked by default on my S7. Unticking / re-ticking it makes no difference whatsoever. Without installing a 3rd party app there is no way to change and save the notification sound for tweets within the twitter app itself. Another twitter update came out recently and, as has been the case for the past year or so, the issue prevails on. It seems ironically idiotic that twitter devs continue to ignore this somewhat important glitch in the midst of the numerous ongoing alerts/complaints directed toward them on the matter. I even see the complaints among the Google Play Store reviews for the app. I can't imagine how twitter rationalizes their disinclination to create satisfaction among many users, especially considering that doing so should require merely a simple fix.

Conceivably, there are ways to work around the issue --some of which have been mentioned wthin this thread-- but, reasonably, none of them should be necessary. I'm not quite sure how to get the file selection dialog (after installing a 3rd party file manager) to appear from twitter's mobile notifications menu instead of the ringtone selection list that pops up. But it seems that a few people have been able to do so, so I expect that it's somehow possible. Another option should be to install an app like Light Flow and utilize its onboard notification ringtone assignment provision for individual apps. But again, that shouldn't be necessary.

Unless the twitter devs are simply too arrogant to realize and acknowledge that they have a chronic problem plaguing their long-standing work, or unless they are living in a vacuum, somehow sequestered from the realm of user feedback, I can't imagine what their problem may be. Trying to understand their apparent attitude more or less makes me feel like beating my head against the wall.

If only it was as easy as that.

Indeed. Yet one more option would be to use one of the several 3rd party apps that are designed to access twitter's network. Presumably, all or most of them are not afflicted with any ringtone assignment issues like the authentic twitter app happens to be. As an example, I've tested Finch and it seems to work perfectly fine in that regard. But even so, while this option is likely a dependable way to gain selectable ringtone functionality for Android 6 on twitter, it's still another workaround. I consider it unfortunate that such measures need to be undertaken at all. Shame on twitter!
