Two weeks today

I hear ya as far as daily battery life goes. What's becoming more important, as more people are keeping their devices longer, is battery longevity. The more the battery needs to be fully charged, or topped off, the shorter it's life. I guess it's something to think about as devices become bigger battery hogs.

I have seen any data that indicates a change in trend that people are keeping their devices longer? Even if that's true the difference in battery longevity over time isn't that great and assumes that the device we are talking about has bad battery life. I've seen complaints about battery life at one point or another for every device we have threads for. Not everyone uses their devices the same way so battery life for any given device is a mixed bag. I've haven't owned a device with bad battery life in at least the last 8 years. I also never had a longevity issue for devices that I kept for 3 years.

In any event it seems the thread has veered off topic and turned into a battery life thread.

There is actually an existing battery life thread here:

Got a S7E that I sold a buddy cheap. He uses it all day everyday playing on Facebook. He has a power pack to charge his phone while hes away from the house.

Gave my 74 yr old sister in law a S8+ phone that i used. She was still using a Iphone 5.
Set it up for her, and bluetoothed it her 2019 Sonata SEl.
She uses it everyday cause she has no internet.

So the battery life that is cut off the phones that is being talked about when a phone gets older
I just don't under the talk from what you are saying.

You totally confuse me.

Should't the phones be dead by not.

They work fine.
It seems fairly simple to me that a battery's life diminishes the more it is used. Everything wears out. Will it wear out in a year, two years, five years? There are a lot of factors in play that determine that.
I hope this helps you understand my very confusing post.

Sorry to get off topic.
Here's one of dozens of articles about people keeping phones longer. https://www.forbes.com/sites/jeanba...ger-33-months-on-average-report/#3d4e81df4dfe

I retired when I was 57 yrs old from. Being stressed out from running my own locksmith business for 19 yrs working 60 plus hrs a week.
Except for bass fishing and riding a Harley.
I'm 70 now with the Big "C"
So explain to me what being retired made you choose what Platform.
Heck I got to hear you witnessing to me.
Hello !

Since the blackberry days I probably owned 70 smart phones all three platforms and had a lot of fun doing it.
Back in 2014 I had open heart and in 2015 lung surgery and I have cancer of the lungs also. Back in 2016 I had minor brain surgery to stop a bleed. The doctors said time to stop working it's time to relax so in 2019 December 31st was my last day and no need for two phones plus income went way down so I decided to go back to one device and one platform, any more questions?

PS I am 59 years old too young to be this sick.

So if everybody is keeping their phones longer. But worried about the life of the battery holding up.
And they are looking for platforms that might work out for them since they are retired.
Why did they go out and buy a note 20 ultra.

And by the way.
Blackberry is coming out with a new phone in 2021

My solution to the whole battery health thing is to just have more than one device so that over a year a device is only being used half of the time or less. Since I can no longer swap batteries I swap devices. ...and it's fun too.

That definitely works but not for the average person that only buys one device at a time. It is fun having more than one though.

It is certainly not an economical thing to do and my other half just doesn't get it. Phones are a guilty pleasure for me as I love sliq hardware & software and I tell my girl that it's certainly cheaper than multiple cars or motorcycles. The battery usage splitting is a nice side benefit.

My other half threatened to leave me if I buy any more phones. I'm gonna miss her.

My wife don't like change. And she don't like spending money. She likes to save it.

I bought her and me a new Note 20 Ultra 5G Universal unlocked, Even though we are 80 miles away from a 5G area that I know of.
She has thanked me several times for getting her a New Note phone.
She works from Home and is on it all day.
She is loving her phone.
I think her phone works better than mine too.

By the way, if your wife Leaves. Can you track her ?

Some things are better left untracked

This device has yet to disappoint great device super fast and smooth! Probably the best note to date!!

What kinds of things do you feel are downgrades from your Note 9 and Note 10+?

Finger print sensor is horrible on the 10+ even more so when you put a screen protector on it. I've tried Samsung (included) and a bunch of others. I end up having to put in my pin in a lot because I exceeded number of tries with finger print sensor. It's slow AF in my opinion. N9 was fast and worked all time and the iris scanner was great when I had my hands full.

Of course the SPo2 Sensor is no longer being on the Note10+ and Note 9 was in my opinion had a sharper screen.

The in-screen fps is definitely slower than the one on the rear of the Note 9. IMO, it would have been better if they had put the fish in the power button like they did with the Fold and Flip but I guess they think its cuter and more futuristic to integrate it into the screen. The cameras on the N20 are definitely an upgrade and so is processor performance. You also have a higher screen-to-body ratio on the Note 20. Screen quality can be subjective but I think objectively the panel in the N20U is superior.

I guess it's down to what features one values most but I don't think most people consider the Note 20 a downgrade.
