I have tried downloading tracks to my Gear S2 according to the instructions without success. After about 15 seconds I get, " Failed to Send tracks to your Gear" in addition to status notification. I have even gone to removing and reinstalling all of the Samsung gear related apps and factory resetting the watch. No luck.
Everything else is working fine, including Milk Music connected to my phone.
Any suggestions?

Do you have it on the charger? If not it has to be on the charger for it to transfer music:)

I think that's only if you're syncing a playlist. If you are transferring individual tracks, it does not need to be charging. Works fine on my watch, with my Note 4 phone.

Maybe you need to contact customer support.

I'm also having a problem. My watch music app disconnects frequently, most times I have to start the music player on the phone first then it will stay connected for random periods of time! I have tried using the native Samsung music app, Google play and some others and the results are the same:( All other functions of the watch are fine and never lose connection to the phone!

I can only figure out how to transfer from what's in my Samsung music list. Since my Cloud is full I can only choose from about 40 songs. Any way of transferring straight from Google play anybody know?

So the issue is with having a rooted phone. I paired the watch with someone else's phone...no issues. Then I loaded the original stock Rom on my phone...no problems with using my gear and loading music. So I had to make the decision to go back to stock. But after weighing the options...decided to stay stock so I can use my watch.

Thats wierd as I dont think the watch checks to see if your phone is rooted,,,if it does thats news to me?

I can't find the app to purchase music to sync with my watch. What is the name of the app? I have the Samsung Galaxy Edge 6S. Thanks :-)

So where does the Gear app look on the phone for the music files? It is missing those I have from Rdio and Google Music. What music app stores to the same location that the Gear app looks to for files?

Any music on your phone that you actually purchased (not downloaded from a monthly service) will transfer with the gear manager app.

I purchased an album on Google music that I will like to download to my gear s2. When I go to the Samsung Gear app - send media- select tracks, I don't see it. Is there is any other way that I can buy music and sync it to my watch? Maybe Samsung music? Thanks:-)

You could get filemaster. I think the only with way is to move or copy from the original location to a location the gear is looking at. For instance, I had to copy my podcasts from the podcast folder on my phone memory to my music file on my SD card. I could then transfer.

I don't know how Google stores files. I know that on Amazon, if I buy a song, it shows up on my phone and I can sync it. The same should be true for Google, but I can't say for sure.

I have the same problem. The gear s2 app doesn't see my purchased Google music, and I don't know where Play Music stores it either, so I can't copy it to the watch. Anyone solve this yet?

ArleneO,

You will need an app called "Music Mate" $2.99 available in Google play store, that downloads your music purchases from Google play to the "play music" app on the phone. Once you do this, you can add the tracks to the gears s2 for stand alone listening. ]

Yes I was able to do it two ways. One was to buy a 32 gb device from best buy for 12.99 that has a micro usb on one end and normal.usb on the other. I plugged to a MacBook pro to copy tracks I purchased to the device. Then just plugged it to phone and copied to music folder and voila. the other is to get an app called music mate from play store. This is needed to "download" purchases from google play to the play music app, where you can now create play lists to copy to the gear s2 for listening when not connected to the phone.

Thank you so much for your suggestion. This also helped me with a problem I was having. But now I'm wondering, every time I purchase something in Play Music will I have to use Music Mate in order to see it in Gear Manager?

Thus far I would say yes. This seems to be the only way to get the music from google play to be "ready" for the gear s2. Also I confirmed from my own testing that the music you get on google play, even with the 9.99 subscription service, Can in fact be downloaded this same way, using the music mate app to the gear s2.
