Unfortunately Contacts has Stopped

I was having the same problem but my contacts would still worked after I got the message. I did read on the internet that some people were having good luck by disabling Google+. I did it yesterday and I haven't seen the error yet and I noticed my phone is a lot faster. By the way I have an S5

Rolling back the google plus update worked perfectly for me!! I've looked everywhere for a solution to contacts stop working and I've done everything from reset my phone, to cleaner to managing contacts in and out of google to no avail. I couldn't believe it was as simple as uninstalling google plus updates to make it never give me the error again! Thanks everyone for the heads up and I hope this will help anyone who was as frustrated as I was. Just go to apps and look for google plus, clear cache, force stop and uninstall updates. Also I'd like to add that my youtube wasn't letting me play videos saying that there was a network error, so I did the same as I did with google plus and uninstalled the updates and it fixed it beautifully! Now I can finally enjoy my phone to it fullest potential without a single error, seriously thanks to everyone in this forum. I have a Padfone X in case that matters:)

I have a brand new Motorola Moto G EXT that is doing this, almost from the first day I turned it on.

I found a solution to the problem:
Open "People".. Tap on the 3 dots.. Then "Contacts to display".. Choose "All contacts" instead of Google only.
Now check whether the problem persists.

My phone does this too. Unfortunately, your solution didn't work for my phone, as I had it already on All Contacts.
But I took it off all contacts for a few minutes, and put it back on. Same problem. And it's doing it with every call I make.
However, even though I get the Unfortunately, Contacts Has Stopped, the calls still go through.

THANK YOU! I did this, then made some calls, and no error message. Yay!

A week later I got my first error message "unfortunately, Unified Daemon has stopped." No idea what that is

"unfortunately, Unified Daemon has stopped." No idea what that is..

My husband and I have been getting this message since day one. But it is anytime we close out of an app... doesn't even have to be phone related. I just read all the posts, and what we have in common is that they added our call logs from our previous phones to the new phones. I am clearing my call log now, turning phone off for a while, then I will start it back up, leave it alone for a while. Meanwhile I will leave my husbands alone and see if that makes any difference.

We are on Sprint. I know someone on verison that I can contact later this afternoon to ask them if they also have this problem with their Note 4-

Try disabling the Facebook messenger app. That thing gives me alerts that it wants access to all kinds of things it shouldn't need. Getting rid of Facebook and a restart worked for me.

BEWARE! I had the same issues with my Motorola Droid Razr X giving messages that contacts had stopped every time I had an incoming call and I had to press OK. When this problem worsened quickly in one day, the phone is now in a continual loop at the droid red eye start up. I have reset the battery, cleared the cashe, reset to factory settings (getting all info from verizon and motorola forum searches) to still be where I am with the start up. After over 1 hr. on the phone with Motorola, a visit to my local verizon store, tech chat with verizon & motorola... I am expected to purchase another phone. It won't be a Motorola....they do not continue to update tech issues with a phone that is over a year old. I am about to use whatever I can online to reconfigure my device because it is of no use at this point. If anyone has a link that is best to walk me through this process, please post!:'(

Solution that worked for me...
Went to voice mail and deleted all voice mails in the box, and the already deleted voice mails...a two step operation....I have a Samsung GS5 VZ Lollipop OS 5.0 and did all the other cache clears data clears, reboots unload recent apps reloaded recent apps. so on and so forth that didn't work for me...but delete voicemails did...Go Figure

I just found out that by doing a system reset My contacts issue when away. Of course I lost some apps, etc. but ended that problem. I am using Android 4.42 which is running Kit-Kat. The phone was originally a VK-V11 MTK6572.
