Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

Not sure if I did something wrong here. I rooted using the method described by the OP but when I turn on the hotpot feature, it drops the 4G and only works in 3G. When I turn off the hotspot, it jumps back to 4G with full signal. Does anyone have the same problem?
Same here. I have NEVER gotten 4G tethering to work with the Sprint hotspot hack (though it works great on 3G). 4G (and 3G) tethering works with the Wireless Tethering app, but the Sprint hotspot hack is smoother (works first time, every time... the WT app ehhh not so much) so it would be great if it were possible to get 4G on the hotspot.

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

the hotspot hack doesn't support 4g

I am having the problem now too. I was at the cafe (no free wifi) and the 4G WiFi tether worked (shows up and working), but the laptop doesn't connect to the phone properly. Tried with access control, security, etc. turned on and off.

Are you able to connect to the WiFi Tether at all?

Go to setting and enable the routing fix and mss clamping.

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

I went onto HTCdev.com and followed the step by step to unlock my hboot or whatever and I got to the final steps and when I wrote my unlock key cmd said it was successful but the splash screen that is supposed to appear and ask if I want to unlock my boot loader never appears, I have looked everywhere and nobody seems to be experiencing this issue, if you could help I would deeply appreciate it, thanks in advance

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

is this a new phone? if it came with the current update 2.17xxx some have reported that they cant unlock the bootloader, you may have to flash a RUU to a older version to get it to take then update to current build

I had exactly the same problem. It seems that not all versions of the 2.17.651.5 system are created equal.

By writing this RUU .exe update over the existing ROM (same 2.17.651.5 version number) I could unlock the bootloader with no problem.

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

What are the advantages to unlocking the EVO? thanx

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

Used this thread to install CleanROM Reborn today. Only my second ROM, and my first time flashing without help. Thanks!

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

I want to attempt to do this but I do not have an internet provider at home, i tether to my pc using easytether. can i still try to attempt to do this? like get the token for the unlocking bootloader. restart my phone, turn on tethering and submit it. or does the phone have to be in that recovery state while i submit the token?

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

hey guys brand new to this whole process and have been reading and just tried it, i got to step 10 where i copy all that info that i got from the cmd, and this is the message i get

We're sorry, but it appears your attempt to unlock the bootloader on this device has failed. This could be caused by several factors including simple errors in the entry of the unlock token, problems with your device, or a lack of manufacturer support for the unlocking process. Please see the specific error code listed below, and try again if necessary.

Error Code: Invalid Bootloader Token Length.
Error Reason: The submitted Token appears to be the wrong length and won\'t work

so im confused cause i seemed to have done everything correct....but obviously something went wrong....any suggestions? does it matter how long my phone was plugged into the computer before i did the cut and paste part of step 10?

thanks again for the help, i would be so lost without this forum!!!

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

Sounds like a typo of the token
Try copy and paste

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

yea i actually got that to work, and i got the email from htc with the bin file, and i put it in my android folder i had created in my C drive, so now i try to type in the" fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" and this is the message i get now...

c:\android>fastbook flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
'fastbook' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

no idea what that means, iv never used the cmd before this so im wicked confused

and then when i try it again it says "cannot load unlock_code.bin"

what the hell i just tried it again and it said it worked, but nothing came up on my phone!

ok update number 3! i installed that RUU exe update that bobodobo was talking about, but the thing that confused me was i had the same ROM that it was trying to update, so it would have just installed the same software or whatever that i already have....is that normal? i feel like im so close, yet still so far!! thanks for your patience in advance, like i said im not very good with this stuff yet.

Fastboot not fastbook

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

Lol yea I noticed the fastbook, just a typo, I did the fastboot and it worked and said ok, but nothing happened on my phone, so I didn't know what to do.....besides sound stupid on here :)

Re: Unlock, root and install custom Rom on Hboot 1.5 in (3) steps

are copy and paste the commands into your prompt? if you are make sure you are not copying any periods, comma's etc....
