Unlocked Phones Dropping Signal on ATT

[Android Central Question]

Hello All,

I sadly had to retired one of my Lumia Phones and purchase my first Android since 2.3.

The phones we purchased where an unlocked Nokia 8 and Sony ZX2 Compact.

In terms of performance and quality they have been great. However, both my daughter and I have noticed that we randomly just loose signal. When I check my 2nd phone, a Lumia 950, it still has connection.

Could this issue be because these 2 phones are not official ATT phones? Either way, is there anything I can do?

Looks Like 5, presently only 2 are lit up. That is the same as my Lumia too. I have seen all lit up when I am in Orlando or Tampa.

So maybe your area has little weaker signal

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Mobile Networks>Preferred Network Type. What is it set to? One thing to remember about AT&T is that they shut down their 2G network, so the phone relies on 3G or 4G (VoLTE) for phone calls.
