Unlocked SM-G935U Nougat Update???

I have a Tmobile postpaid SIM in my phone. It is not turned into a Tmobile phone. AGain, what you saw when you put the SIM in was the screen telling you the phone was setting up the Tmobile APNs. That's just it's way of saying it's configuring the network settings to work with Tmobile. It doesn't change anything about the software though to make it a Tmobile phone. As far as Tmobile is concerned, you still just have some unlocked phone on their network. You can use it, but that's the entirety of the support they provide for it. All software updates are done by the manufacturer.
I also have a g935u running on t-mobile, and what @accordex#AC says regarding the misleading way Samsung OTA updates are presented is accurate. See for yourself:

That's interesting , mine didn't say that when it was downloading I have T-mobile phone that I changed to unlock version with T-mobile sim

I have the 935u on Tmobile and mine did not say anything about T-mobile sending me the update the other day. Just the generic language for the update.

If/when the US/CAN unlocked S7 Edge gets Nougat, I won't even care what happens after that. Having used it on the VZW S7 Edge it's definitely worth it. Wonder if this will also extend to that Olympic S7 Edge as well (that's also a 935U IIRC)

This is assuming we ever get it. This has gotten beyond ridiculous.

And here I am sitting waiting on S8 Plus unlocked to buy. I am on VZ but I hate their bloat. Seriously considering buying S8 Plus unlocked but Samsung not releasing updates is absolutely mind bending. What the hell?

No clue at this point. I'd be nice if Android Central would push them on this issue instead of writing endless amounts of "Galaxy S8 is great!" articles. I'm sure it is, but how the company treats its customers is relevant to that and any other discussion about the quality of their phones.

What I don't understand why the unlocked phones don't enhanced message and video calling is this just a carrier thing , will Samsung put in future software updates?

Also note that if you use an unlocked S8 on VZW, there is no Visual Voicemail app that works with it currently. That is the case with the Unlocked S7 Edge. If you use Google Voice or something like Youmail, this shouldn't be an issue.

Very strange why that would be the case. Since VZ visual voicemail is just an app.

Anyone have link to rooting the G935U?

The G935U can be rooted but that's about it. Because it has a locked bootloader, you can't run any custom roms on it like you can on phones such as a Note 5 that have the bootloader unlocked. It's also not very stable. I spent a whole day trying to tweak the settings with various apps and still had some serious lag and major battery drainage. I ended up going back to stock.

You can search google for XDA G935U root and it will take you to the forum with details.
