Unlocked Sprint Nexus 6 on Verizon?

I have a friend who is willing to sell his nexus 6 to me, new in box. He purchased it on Sprint outright and unlocked. Will I be able to insert my already active Verizon SIM card and use the device? I really don't want to wait for a month or more, just to obtain a new phone, or wait for Verizon to pick it up officially.
