My new S23U is unlocked direct from Samsung but my husband went with the TMo carrier version which is obviously locked.

We are going to Scotland this summer and I plan to use an esim plan by Orange while we're gone. I used the same plan last summer and worked great but forgot my husband will prob also want a travel SIM/eSIM but his phone will need to be unlocked.

Not sure TMo will do this even for a brief period and web search turned up a bunch of companies who can supposedly do it remotely.

Anyone have advice or experience doing this?

Honestly, there isn't much we can offer here other than to call the carrier, tell them you are traveling and normally, if they will not just UNLOCK it, they can do a temp unlock for the timeframe you are traveling.

In essence, call T-Mobile and ask them. We have no power here to do anything like that. :)

Not saying you have power...rather ASKING question if anyone has used one of these unlocking services in case TMo won't??????

Ah, well, using a 3rd party Unlocking service is sketchy at best. Most of them are scams and the rest are mainly BS. I would avoid that at all costs.

IF, and that's a big IF, there are any legit services, unless Samsun has released the unlock codes to the shared database, no one will have them anyway. It normally takes about 6 weeks to 6 months for those databases to get updated.

When it was harder to get unlocks back in the day, when I had to go overseas, I just took my main phone and used it on WiFi when I could and I bought a basic burner phone just for calls when needed.

T-Mobile has some pretty good international pass options. For $35, you get unlimited calling and 5 GB of high speed data for 10 days, and for $50, you get 15 GB of high speed data for 30 days: https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/international-roaming-plans/unlimited-calling-data-pass

Remember also that with most T-Mobile plans, you automatically get free unlimited texting while abroad, as well as unlimited slower data: https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone...=MGPO_TMO_P_BRNDBNFITS_IAF2YG4QNG7H4TQEW30061

Don't use any 3rd party unlock service, TMobile has unlock app or in settings under connection once the device and plan is met then TMO will unlock it

If the phone is paid off they unlock it right away. If you financed it, yeah I think you have to wait like 30-90 days and then they will unlock permanently. There is also temporary unlock but I never used it.
