Unofficial poll: What size phone do you prefer?

My wife has a 4" Nexus S and I find it almost completely unusable. I have a 4.3" Evo 3D and I definitely want my next phone to be bigger. I'll probably go with something around 4.7" or 4.8", but I'm definitely tempted by the 5.3" Note. I've held one and I'm pretty sure I can use it with one hand and can fit it in my pocket. I'll decide next year when it's time for an upgrade.

I have the One X, and at first I thought maybe it was too big, but then when I start reading webpages and text it just can't be beat. I did try a Note, and found that it was just too big for me to use on a daily basis.

I do agree that the overall dimensions should take precedence, though. If we can get a phone that has almost no bezel and fit it in today's dimensions, the screen size would naturally go up.

Am I the only one that doesn't like this "no bezel" idea?

Sure I don't want a big bezel, but I feel like we need some bezel (I'm guess ~1/8") to be able to hold the phone without touching the screen, particularly when using the phone with 1 hand. The part of your hand at the base of you thumb wraps around the front of the phone and comes very close to touching the screen.

Maybe it's just me, but I think a little bezel is necessary.

Love 5.3 :) wish my one x had a 5.3. On the subject of bezels n frames etc. Why the feck don't the put a white bezel and frame on a white phone, or color match different colored phones? Why always use black. I know they'll say cost cutting but we pay a lot for a premium handset. Why why why?

I didn't say no bezel, I said reduced bezel sizes.

Something like that is beautiful to me, allows for a larger screen in a smaller package, and does not look like it would affect holding it at all. Holding my Sensation right now (in right hand), the phone rests on my pinkie at the very bottom, my middle and ring fingers extend across the back and only mildly wrap around it, my palm near my thumb squeezes the opposite side very lightly, my index finger is free to either lightly squeeze, rest on the backside, or simply float, and my thumb waits to interact. None of my hand is actually wrapped around the front of the phone very much at all, which is why I think it is entirely possible to have an extremely thin bezel that is still entirely functional.

I put a heavy duty case on everything I own, so I guess bezel is irrelevant to me and others like me as the case is going to creep into the screen anyway.

Ha! and then I saw the Samsung Rugby Smart for the first time and was like "wow! that is a heck of a lot of bezel there!" and for a moment I considered buying it, but the screen really is too small for the overall phone size.

I think I agree with you. When I hold my phone I mainly grip around the sides and back. It seems like the screen can be expanded to cover the entire face of the phone, without affecting how you grip it.

In the future electronics will undoubtedly evolve so that sensors are placed virtually everywhere. That is my prediction, however at THIS time we are still far away from no bezel being implemented. So that's why I asked regarding screen size, not dimensions.

Still, you make a good point though :)

I'm pretty sure the white GS3 has a white bezel. Alex Dobie actually pointed it out in his review because he said the white bezel created a lot of reflextion or glare in direct sunlight which make the screen harder to see.

The 4.65 on the galaxy nexus is large but the resolution makes it narrow enough to told nicely

For me I like the 4.65 inch screen on the Galaxy Nexus. The size is so perfect that I would refuse to get a 4.66 inch screen. Seriously. But really the best part is that is fits in my pocket unlike my last phone which was an LG Quantum

I was perfectly happy with the size of the Note, just not AT&T's implementation. I may get the Note 2 when it comes. 5.3" makes me happy though.

4.7" is the perfect size for me...I used to think the iPhone screen was just right, until i saw the Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy S3 in my hand...

Anything bigger than my current 3.5" screen...

I prefer something around 4.5" but I find any size (even the Note's 5.3" screen) usable and comfortable. The only thing then is how it fits in my pockets.

Going from a Blackbery Tour, to a Droid Pro, and finally to a Droid 4, I can say that the bigger the screen the better. I used to read alot of books and watch alot of movies on my Xoom (just sold it), and will be using my phone for those same tasks. While the Droid 4 isn't terrible for watching Youtube videos on, it sucks to watch a full length movie or read a book on it. Everything is cramped. Dont get me wrong, compared to the screen on the Blackberry, the screen size is huge, but still seems too small for these tasks. And I agree that the bezel on the Droid 4 could be reduced to make the screen bigger, thus keeping the dimensions the same. Just my .2 :)

Edit: the 4.8 inch screen size seems to be perfect

I currently have the GS2 epic touch by sprint, screen 4.5 in seems just right but willing to go/try 4.8 GS3 but not much larger because of the concern as to whether it will fit my shirt chest pocket or not. I just love the bigger screen for viewing movies, videos, email no more squiting for me

I just upgraded from an Evo 3D (4.3") to a Galaxy Nexus (4.8") and I am LOVING it. (The 720 resolution definitely helps.)

Anywhere from 4.7-5.3 think that it's where the phone seems the most comfortable and easy on the eyes,,:D

It really depends, you know, I kinda understand why Blackberrys typically have a smaller screen size and I really have grown to love that screen size for just typing short tweets.

I think Iphones are just too small though. They seem to be geared to showing off superb quality in graphics but is just too small for it, especially after the Iphone 4 came out and apps started evolving.

HTC One S is just the right size for me, even though I have used the One X as a daily driver since it came out.
