Unofficial poll: What size phone do you prefer?

For me the feel of the galaxy nexus is the perfect size but reduce the bezel and it would be great. To me its not the screen size but the form factor of the phone

I have a HTC Desire S at the moment and I have a Nexus 7 so when I use the HTC it's weird because of the massive size difference! I want to get something bigger anyway like the S3 because compared to what phones are out now my desire s isn't as good and quite a lot slower!

I'm getting a little frustrated. It started a while back when I my upgrade became available (I'm on a Nexus S 4G - 4" screen) and I was looking at what was available. I figure the Galaxy Nexus' size is about the largest I really wanna go, but all the stuff I hear these days just makes it seem like even that is too small for everyone else. I mean really...isn't there ONE Android phone out there worth getting that is 4" to maybe 4.5" and isn't a year or more old?

Gizmodo agrees: After iPhone 5 the Only Small Phones Left Are All Horrible

Then I hear news that they're already talking about a Galaxy S4! And it's almost up into 'Galaxy Note' territory! A New, Bigger Samsung Galaxy S Might Be Coming March 2013

Why can't we have an awesome-yet-reasonably-sized phone?!?!

Further ranting from Gizmodo that emphasizes my point: When Did Small Phones Become Crappy Phones?

I love the size and shape of my Nexus S...I want to see more development of high-end devices in that size/form factor.

I used to think 4.3" screen was perfect, but after a year and a half with one and now using the Nexus 7 with its 7" screen; I'd say 5-7" would be more ideal. I could easily hold a Nexus 7 size device to my ear as ridiculous as that may look. :p

I like the larger screen sizes, between 4.5 to 5.5 (I plan on getting the note 2) I use my phone more like a mini computer than anything,I don't really care what it would look like held up to my ear since using it as a phone is pretty low on my list

Why do so many people talk about what a large phone "looks like" held up to your ear? Do people really need approval from those around them? Are people really that shallow?

My phone is for my personal entertainment and productivity, I couldn't care less what it "looks like" to anyone else.

Yeah...I don't really care about that. Besides, I rarely actually TALK on my phone! :D

What's more important to me is how it fits in my pocket.

The RAZR M and the HTC One S look like about the size I want, but qHD is not good enough. The #1 thing I would like to upgrade from my NS4G is the pixel density, and for some reason it seems like you have to go to 4.5"+ in order to do that.

On a 4.3 inch screen, why isn't qHD good enough for you?

I agree. I could never go back to qHD. My last phone (EVO3D) was qHD on a 4.3 inch screen and it can't compare to 720 on my 4.6" GNex. The GNex screen is so much sharper and clearer.

My Droid Bionic is 4.3", and that's more than big enough for me. I was actually looking at a 4" LG dual-core (midrange phone) that was $79, but then the Bionic went on clearance for free with better specs - and has the lapdock, which can be very useful if traveling and needing to take care of work emails / spreadsheets etc. The dual-role capability of the Bionic and Atrix lines are really good for a business user, though Android in general needs work with Exchange integration.

I think a lot of this screen size thing has to do with the physique of the person using the phone as well as what they want to use it for.

i.e., if you don't have / don't want / can't afford a modern tablet and you try to use your phone for 'double duty' as a tablet, then I can very much understand wanting a bigger phone screen. Also if you have big hands, you probably won't be able to use an iPhone (3.7" and 4.0" now) or any Android under 4.3" effectively. Again, totally understandable and totally situational.

It's all preference and situational.

With the iPhone moving up in screen size and now covering 3.7" and 4" with an upper-midrange (iPhone 4S) and high end (iPhone 5), it will be interesting to see if they gain market share by attracting a new segment to their fold based on screen size. Anyone with fingers bigger than 'medium size' really has problems using the iPhone 3-4S in my experience.

Nope cause I'm a girl & keep it in my purse, not pocket. I'm lovin a bigger phone... But then I do like tablets so prob why I like the bigger phones :)

Thought my GS2 (Sprint) was perfect until I got a GS3. If the Note 2 had been available 3 weeks ago, I would have gotten it instead of the GS3. I wear a military uniform so most of the day I have cargo pockets and all of my shorts, except running and biking, are cargo shorts, so carrying is non issue.

If we're looking for such big phones, then honestly, isn't that why we have tablets? I mean seriously now.... A phone should be great at being "a phone!" I honestly don't understand the desire for 4.5in screens and higher. I'm even starting to force myself to accept 4.3in. Beyond that, you might as well just paint a big fat clown right on the battery cover

When I wear my Bionic on my hip in its otterbox case, it looks like I'm walking around with a flat screen t.v. on my belt...I'm glad I figured out the phone fits in the holster screen in ( its okay, I'm over 50, and younger co-workers say its okay for us old folk to use holstsers for our phones) However, I always liked the I-phones screen size. I seem to notice android screens are getting bigger, and now even the I-phone 5 has a bigger screen. However, I dont think I would want anything bigger then what I have now,

My Samsung Galaxy S2 4.3" screen is the perfect size for me. It's just the right size for me to do everything I need to on it without the phone feeling big in my hands (I'm told I have large hands for a girl).
My husband's Samsung Galaxy Note 5.3" screen is just the right size for him. He has large hands- even for a man-so the phone doesn't feel as huge to him as it does to me! He's also got the extended battery/bigger back on it. I think it's massive!

When I wrote this last year, I genuinely didn't want a bigger phone. I hadn't had the S2 for long and I loved it's size-I had even turned down an S3 because I thought it would be too big. Anyway my S2 has been becoming increasingly unreliable recently and the 4.1.2 upgrade nearly bricked it completely. So my husband got me an S3 and I love it! It sits in my hand a lot more comfortably than I thought it would and the screen is great. So it seems that 4.8" is my new perfect size! :)
