Unresponsive lock screen

Hi everyone, just got the Nexus 4 a couple weeks ago and really enjoying it!

I just had a few questions and hoped to get some feedback from some people with similar issues.

Once in a while I'll try to unlock my phone using the pattern, but the screen is unresponsive. I press the power button to wake the screen, and normally I can either enter my pattern to unlock the phone, or slide to the camera or other app in a different screen (which would prompt me for the pattern again). But once in a while, I can't do anything and the screen is just completely unresponsive. I'll press the power button off and on again and still the same problem. The problem seems to fix itself however, when I try to open Google Now (by swiping up from the menu button) and then it prompts me to enter my pattern again, and it works this time. So when I can get it to prompt me to enter a password when trying to enter directly into an app from the screen, the pattern works, but otherwise the screen remains unresponsive.

This has only happened maybe twice since I've started using this phone. I hope that explanation makes sense and there's a way I can get rid of it. Otherwise, it's not really that big a hassle, I just want to know if there's something wrong with my phone.

Edit:
After a quick google search, looks like my problem isn't a new one. But I'm still wondering if anyone with a Nexus 4 has had this problem? Is it an OS problem? A Hardware one?

Might be one of those small, wonky things that act weird with smartphones which is why I have many times run into the suggestion to restart said smartphone about once a week. I just restarted my phone last night and I thank God something else woke me up because, although the Clock widget showed my alarm time, it was defaulted to 12:00 noon on the lock screen and it was, indeed, defaulted to 12:00 noon until I set it again manually.

I havent had that problem at all, what about using the keypad lock option rather than a pattern? same issue?

Hi,
I can relate to what you are talking about. Its pretty hard to tell if its the lock screen playing up or if the screen is being unresponsive. I have seen many review videos where a person is trying to show off the lock screen features and has had trouble swiping left and right. From my personal experience, sometimes it took a few tries to unlock using the pattern unlock and at the moment while using the keypad lock, I have come across situations where I would have to tap (particularly the 1 key) a few times for it to enter properly.

I haven't had that problem (well I don't have my Nexus 4 yet lol) but anywayss.... I saw this video of a guy trying to customize his lock screen but it just wouldn't work for some odd reason. He couldn't scroll right to left on the home screen, all he could do was unlock the phone. Well this could mean it's just a bug? Maybe... his cleared up after 10 seconds or so.
Are you rooted or anything or running any launchers?

I haven't rooted the phone, and I don't know what 'running any launchers' means, haha, so I'm pretty sure I'm not. I haven't had the problem in recent days, maybe it'll never happen again. It's such a small problem in the grand scheme, I'm really enjoying the phone. If I have the problem again, I'll try switching to a different style of unlocking (pin, password etc.) and see... it feels like it is going to be a long process however. Thank you all very much for the responses!

Lol a launcher is like apex and nova, changes your entire android experience amost but I'm not sure what your problem is. It might just be a slight bug that happened and now since it's a bug, you won't be stumbling on it that often.
If it happens again, that means someone else will have the problem and if there is a problem, there is most likely a solution! (jsut later, not now :p)

I used to get this on my old ace, not happened on my n4 yet though. Does it happen when it's on charge? I've seen instances where the charger can mess worth l with the touch screen
