Update installation trouble..help!

I recently bought an HTC one m7 online and it does not have a service carrier yet. I tried to install the software update 4.06.1540.3 but it brings me to a screen that is completely foreign to me. Please help me install this easily so I don't end up ruining it! Thanks

So you tried to download the update over wifi? Not that there's anything wrong with that.
A screenshot of what you see would be helpful if you could post one. Is it anything like what is described here?

Was the device bought new or used? Is it one of the normal versions or a developer edition?
