Update: ROM update (not Froyo) available now!

OTA Update DH12-DI01 Fails

My stock SF downloaded the update but took 20 minutes to run the installation. Same failed result as others have posted here. I sent my phone back to the "authorized retailer" Verizon store Monday and am waiting for my replacement. I started a thread on Verizon Forums to help myself and anyone else who has had this issue, but there does not seem to be a resolution aside from exchanging the phone.
I will be waiting for the Froyo update release before rooting... provided I get this issue resolved.
As info becomes available re:stock SF and this updating issue DH12 - DI01 I will post here as well as the Verizon Forums thread here OTA Update Failes! - Verizon Wireless Community

I have two fascinates and both are having the issue of the update going through fine until the "modem" section. long story short, update fails. I called Verizon and was told by tec-support that the updates are dived out in stages and that it could be up to a month for my phones' "batch" to receive the update. B/S or legit? Should I return or not?

sounds like bs if you ask me. Some people who got their phones first day have gotten the update and some who have gone in and exchanged have got the update. Seems illogical to have some "middle batch" that would be getting the update last. And if there were batches that would be getting the updates later than others it would seem smart of them to not inform these phones of the update until the phone is ready to get it. My phone prompted me for the update one morning and yet it still wouldn't install.

My wife and I got a fascinate mid last month and mine is rooted with a bit of bloatware moved and hers is still at factory settings. Tried updates on both a few times and same story. Gets to the updating modem part, hangs, reboots, says it failed. Tried 3 times on hers and 5 on mine. I figure it must not have much to do with me rooting mine and moving bloatware because hers still has all the crap and fails.

I had the same problem with mine and I spent to much time on trying to get it to update and fail. I took mine phone to Verizon and went thru the process with them and same results, so I asked them for a replacement phone. The new phone booted up and log on to gmail and did the update with no problem.

ugghhh

So I have been delaying trying to put the update on my phone till after I was able to read more on how to keep my superuser status and update at the same time......

but

looks like the update was forced to my phone via automatic update download feature :(

My phone took the update with No issues which was nice, but now it's time to get root access back.

All I had done to the phone prior was install superuser, wireless tether, and ad blocker.

Before I used the one click or 2 click method by Dirk as posted in the forums to get my original root access

Question is can I just do part 2 of the one click method by dirk and get my root back or do I actually have to enter the adb commands to do it?

In case it matters: I do still have all the icons superuser, wireless tether, and adblocker, but no root access to use them.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Drootz

I played it safe and reversed the lagfix, rebooted, unrooted, rebooted, ran the update, rebooted, rooted, lagfixed. It went off perfectly and took maybe 1/2 hour.

Doesn't the ad blocker "not work?" I read that it blocks the images after it loads them, defeating the speed value. Also, heard it's not blocking everything anymore.

I tried updating mine manually, at least 5 times and it didn't work. I left it alone and just waited for the update to happen on its own. One day, as I was charging, it started the update by itself, but to no avail.

"IP_Update_Fail"...something like that..the same problem I think several people are having..

Ohh well, what can I do?

Just wait it out?

I've been getting the IP_PREVIOUS_UPDATE_FAILED message since Day 1 of this update.

Doesn't matter if it's a manual update or auto.

And now for some reason, I've started having reception issues at work. Dropping signal randomly.

What the heck?

It worked great for me. Ran smooth no lag and blocked any of the ads that ran like a ticker on the bottom of the screen.

Basically Each time you get a new app that has ads in it (free apps) after running that app for the first time exit load ad blocker and it will update it's definitions and save them permanentley. Then they will be gone forever.

so how did you end up re-rooting it? I initially used the method Cory Streater (sp?) posted but that didn't work and the one click lag fix isn't working either..

Hi all,

I originally rooted and installed the enhanced google apk and renamed the bing apk. Everything worked as expected. I took the update just fine and re-rooted. I seem to have an issue with bing working again. The search button still uses bing but the google widget uses google.

Is this a know issue caused by the update?

I still had the original 1 click root method which was actually (3 clicks/3parts) to it once unzipped.

So when I first rooted (originally) it said if your device hung up repeat step 2. So This is where I started when I re-rooted after the software update.

First ran step 2 it got hung up. So I did a battery pull on phone and then ctrl +Alt+del to task manager to close adb.exe running.

Then started over and ran step 1 it worked fine then step 2 it worked fine. After that I disconnected and all was well. Root was back.

as for 1 click lag fix I don't use that so not sure on that...

I have been out of the country for the last two weeks. Tried to run the update today and it failed like I thought it would. Im not going to go and mess with it to take since the fixes are pretty small and not an issue for me.

Im rooted and lagfixed.

SCH-I500_DH12_to_DI01

When I updated my phone with SCH-I500_DH12_to_DI01 it messed up my rooted applications tried the Factory reset and it killed my phone luckily I got it replaced under warranty. I have not rooted my new Fascinate I will wait for Verizon to push out Android 2.2 or I I'll just wait and hear from the Android Central forum about a custom Rom for fascinate with Android 2.2. Please Keep us informed I love this web site.
