Update: ROM update (not Froyo) available now!

I just received the update to my phone. I clicked install and when it rebooted, it keeps popping up with the same screen to install. I am rooted. I tried to go through the "unroot" steps, but when I type "su" is says "permissions denied". I also cannot run wireless tether. It says "unable to start". Any help here?

The update breaks the root, but you don't have to unroot. If you want those root apps to work, you will have to root again

But why does it keep asking me to install the update?

I was thinking I might have to un-root to install the update.

Same thing happened to me. Just check to make sure your kernel version is 2.6.29 and that means your update is installed. At that point i rejected the update loop from popping up again and haven't seen it since.

The kernel version should be 2.6.29 before and after the update. You're looking for SCH-I500.DI01 under Baseband version to see if your phone updated.

for some reason i thought the kernel version was 2.6.26 thanks for the heads up. my baseband has a v on it so its SCH-I500.vDI01, is that correct?

My Kernel version is 2.6.29. When i try to re-root, i get a message saying it can't open the sdcard/com? Any ideas?

just mounted mine on my computer here at work. and it works. Win7 64bit

Very strange...after well over an hour of messing around my phone finally mounted and i was able to re-root it...no idea why or how it all of a sudden decided to mount.
Does anyone know if i have to re-do the lagfix also? thanks

my lag fix stayed after updating and i havent seen anyone say otherwise. quick way to check it run quadrant and see what your score is. if its in the 2200s or so then your lag fix is still there.

K....thanks...just ran it and got 2049?...when i first rooted and did the lagfix my first score was 2307...then a few days ago i ran it again and was in the 2200's...now 2049
should i "unlagfix" and then run lagfix again or is 2049 cool?

thats a lot of work for a couple hundred points especially if something goes wrong. i wouldn't worry about it but to each his own.

You're prob right...i'll just leave it alone...before i did the lagfix i was in the 800's so compared to that i guess 2049 is amazing...lol...thanks

just did the update on my wife's phone and everything went smoothly on the first try...thank God...lol...re-rooted her phone, ran quadrant and got 2149...sonofa*****....she beat my score by a 100 points...lol

So.......

Copied bloatware back into the /system/app folder, ran the OTA update (no issues), re-rooted, and moved the VZ bloatware back to my SD card. Nothing monumental other than the fact that the signal drop alert no longer annoys me when I get into the elevator at my office. Quadrant ran a smooth 2238 after everything was done and the phone seems nice and responsive (as it was prior to the update).
