UPDATE: Wirefly WAS Selling Evo 3D for $179... NOW $149 (WTF)

I've never bought from Amazon, how does it manage the free activation? Does it come activated or something?

I know your question is about ordering through Amazon, but this thread is about Wirefly ... Did you mean Wirefly.com or Amazon.com?

I bought an HTC Arrive from Amazon last week, and I HATE it. I just learned about the EVO 3D, and since I ordered the Arrive from Amazon, I just called to make an exchange. The rep was unable to give me any details about when it will ship, on the site it simply says "backordered." It wasn't even listed on the site at all two days ago when I looked for it. Hoping I don't have to wait too long, but it will be worth it regardless. I may wait a few days before returning the Arrive, b/c then I'll have to settle for my 4 year old Blackberry til the EVo comes in.

When you pre-ordered, did you pay the full price at checkout?

I paid $160. That's what the receipt says ($9 tax... I live in MD, wirefly is in VA... guess they have offices here or something). Though, maybe I should have paid for 2 day shipping, ha.

They did list the $18 activation fee prior to checkout =/

Why don't you just return it all together and get it at wirefly.com for $149 instead of Amazon.com for $179?

sucks that you had to pay the sales tax. Pre ordering mine now. I'm also going with reg shipping. Save a few bucks and it'll prob arrive by the 24th or a little thereafter anyway. I'm now officially a wirefly fan.

You can still buy it. I bought the nexus and called them and told them I wanted to exchange it for the evo 3d. The rep had me place an order at the full retail price and within 15 mins he edited the price to 179.99 and my order status reflected that change.

It has all the info under order. esitmated shipdate is june 24th and estimated delivery date is june 29th-july 1st. So I am pretty sure it will ship out on the day it is available. I just have to send in my nexus back by july 8th but he said if the phone gets delayed for any reason just call them and they will put a not on the account so I dont have to ship nexus back until I get the evo.

does anyone know if i'll lose my corporate discount by renewing this way?

and how does the activation work? will the phone come activated? if not, how does it get activated?

does sprint charge an activation fee for renewing lines? is it more or less than $18?

wirefly's website is terrible as far as useability goes.

Phone doesn't come activated.
You won't be charged anything else. It all goes through wirefly.
Cant comment on your discount.

so how does it get activated?

and i wasn't asking about whether there's an additional activation fee. i was just wondering if sprint will charge an activation fee because i currently have preorder through sprint, and considering of canceling with sprint and going with wirefly because it saves me $100 for two phones. but i would be guaranteed to get the phone on the 24th if i go with sprint. but with the $18 per phone activation through wirefly, it's not actually $100, but more like $74.

however, if sprint also charges activation then, then its moot. thats what i was wondering. thanks.

I called Amazon and arranged to return my Arrive and purchase the EVO 3D. She adjusted the price as you said, and she said I needed to return the Arrive "as soon as possible." I did notice the actual email with the return shipping label said I must return it within 30 days. I wonder why she didn't suggest to me that I could keep the phone until my replacement arrives? I purchased it on June 3, so I guess at the least I need to return it by then in order to not get into trouble with Sprint, regarding their 30 day return policy. I've never returned a cell phone, so I guess I'm a bit paranoid. I have a backup blackberry I can use, it's just the small hassle of switching the line to the bberry, then to the EVO.

All this rambling is mainly to ask whether you think I should hang onto the Arrive until the end of the month and then return it. I'm not sure why the rep told me to send it back ASAP if they're pretty lenient about the whole thing. Particularly since it's going back to Sprint in the end, not to their warehouse.

Yea i'm not sure. If you cancel your Sprint pre-order i'm sure you could cash out or just apply it toward your bill.

no actually what happens is basically the new phone that you order is basically you bought at retail price, it is not really discounted for the contract. My rep was really cool, he explained it pretty good, he said you are buying it at retail and we are manually adjusting the price so the nexus has to be returned with in 30 days from the day he submitted my return label.

My rep clearly told me 30 days so I think you should be good for the next 30 days.

I think what happens is if you dont send the phone back with in 30 days you get full retail price charged for the evo not the the phone that you currently have.

It was 149 when I bought it last night, I didn't pay an activation fee (yet), i guess that will be on the
Sprint bill..let's see if i can talk my way out of that one...

My bad I clicked on the wrong link

By when do they say you're going to get it?

Uncertain, the confirmation says they will ship it as soon as they get it from HTC/Sprint, and they usually get them in early so I'm guessing by launch day, if not earlier.
