UPDATE: Wirefly WAS Selling Evo 3D for $179... NOW $149 (WTF)

Going to pre order mine from wirefly. My local radioshack said the pre wasn't worth $75 so this is my best bet to save. I hope it comes asap!

Edit: I am somewhat skeptical as it asks for my ssn and other info. Between that and the background checks, idk if will be worth the hassle.

if you are signing up for as a new customer, you are going to need your social. You might even need it if you are upgrading. Wirefly is one of the most poplular online cell phone resellers, if they need your social it must be required to create or access your account, either or.

I have never given out my ss number to get an upgrade. In fact, I talked to someone at Sprint after the "new" Sams Club cell kiosk demanded my and my husband's ss number to get my upgrade. The Sprint rep said they've moved away from using ss numbers, and they don't even keep full ss numbers on file. They used to ask for the last 4 digits as a way of confirming identity, but that's now done by giving your PIN. When I upgraded my phone in the past, all I was asked for was my name, call number, and PIN. I just upgraded online for the first time, via Amazon, and they did not ask for my social security number. If Sprint doesn't even use this any more, I'm not sure why external resellers are asking for it. Perhaps it's a generic form for all providers, and some providers may still require that. Since Sprint doesn't, I'd rather deal with a merchant who asks only for the information Sprint actually needs to process my upgrade.

This might be a dumb question. However, can you take advantage of the port in credit ($125) from Wirefly? If so, would I be able to port in and pay the 149, yet use the current phone until it ships?

I think the pin is only for ur and sprint use. I don't third party have access to it. For upgrade you might not need ss. I do know for new accout they will require it.

Your answer is a simple YES ... You can take advantage of the pay to switch carrier program and buy through wirefly.com

I just pre ordered mine through Wirefly @ 149.99, the 24th can't come soon enough...

Just an FYI from another thread:

No SD card included if purchasing EVO 3D from Wirefly

I read in another form that they weren't including the 8gb card that comes installed in the phone. I have already preordered mine from Wirefly ($179-$50 (Bank of America Add it up program reward)=$129!), so I decided to email them and ask about this. Sure enough they said it does not come with an sd card! See the email below. I guess it's not that big of a deal since cards are fairly cheap, but I was wondering a few things.
1) Will the EVO 3D support sdhc? I was thinking about getting an 16gb class 6. Any good suggestions there?
2) Won't the preinstalled movies/games be installed on the sd card that Sprint includes? Again, not that big of a deal, just curious.
Thanks for the help.

Subject: Interested in purchasing an Evo 3d.

Does the evo 3d come with an 8gb SD card?

Sent from my EVO.

I dont trust this...i filled it to order mine and it showed that I was in Seattle, I live in Houston, TX...Also, I dont like the part about wanting the SSN and the account PIN, combined with all the other info, they would have complete access to your account...and then the fact of no SD card included, nope, here I come Sprint, see you on the 21st, premier status baby...

I wouldn't take that comment or email as Gospel because others have chatted with wirefly.com (including the OP) and they confirmed that it DOES come with the 8GB SD card ... Your getting the phone from Sprint ... wirefly.com is just a third party retailer ... They can choose to sell the phone for whatever they want but they can't tamper with the device itself ... That OP should either pose that post as a question or redact it because it has not been confirmed and the website makes no claim to it not coming with the 8GB card.

I don't get Wirefly, I am upgrading a line that is eligible but why is it asking me to add features to my account (like paying for GPS etc).

I already have all of these things for free with my EVO 4G, should I just select none for all of them before pre-ordering through Wirefly?

Thanks,

Wirefly is legit, when upgrading you are entering into a whole new contract. Just select what you want, that's all.

I got confused by that as well... just to be safe call them to order, is less confusing that way..

Oh snaps son! I guess I'm super late on the $149 from Wirefly. I dropped $50 for the pre-order at BB so I guess I could just use that $50 gift card for accessories or something. I am a little leery about when they'll actually ship it though. The BB is literally 2 mins from my house so I'd pretty much be guaranteed to have it in my hands on the 24th. Decisions, decisions.

EDIT: So I noticed when checking out it lists Seattle, WA as your city and state. That might be a problem........any thoughts OP?

EDIT #2: I figured it out. After you first click on the link, near the top there is an option to change the city. The price stays at $149.99. Good stuff!

Yeah, Isuspect it says Seattle because the OP used his link for his home city to post the deal link on the forum. You can easily switch it to your zip code as you noticed.

I saw someone asked about their corporate discount and being concerned about losing it if they renew through Wirefly. I have the identical concern as I have a 25% corporate discount and if I lose it I won't be pleased. Anyone have any insight into this?

Also, for those that say that Wirefly won't charge you anything above the price listed (like an activation fee) I can tell you that that is false. I started to go through the order process and it definitely shows that there is an $18 activation fee that will be charged to the order.

has anyone ever ordered from wirefly before? i was wondering, if i order from wirely, and when nexus 3 comes out in 6 months, can i get rid of this phone, and replace it with another? or will i be hit with any kind of fees as noted here: Wirefly terms and conditions including our equipment discount policy

you can buy any phone you want, activate the phone. you can not cancel your contract for 6 months, if you do that you get hit with ETF. As long as you keep your line active for 6 months you are good. You can buy another phone and put it on the line or change plan or features, just keep the number active for 6 months. Atleast that is the case when I asked amazon wireless, it should be similar to wirefly.

yeah, it was doing that for adding a non-primary phone upgrade for me. I didn't want extra charges I didn't need. Sprint ID pack for a Nexus S 4G? uhh... it doesn't work!

I ended up only buying my EVO 3d from them (i'm the main line) and I snagged a nexus s 4g for my mom on amazon instead. I'm a little unnerved by the SSN verification they wanted too (wirefly).
