Updated 31 Oct.. Nexus 5.... So finally arrived.

Re: Nexus 5... So it's here

Snapdragon 800 has a lower idle speed and has a SoC unlike a 600 chip.

I have a galaxy note 3 with a snapdragon 800 and the battery life is worse then the note 2. Obviously because it has to push out a lotta pixels but nonetheless if the battery is under 2500 mah the battery life will be mediocre.

What range is mediocre? The x has no problem getting through wake until sleep and its under 2500. I think of that as pretty decent, the 20-28hr range, but I'd think even 12-16 would be decent for most users, as that's longer than they're away from an outlet.

I would consider the battery of the current Nexus 4 mediocre. S4 acceptable. Droid dna mediocre. Htc one I never used one. Razr hd, droid ultra acceptable.

Edit. S3 pretty mediocre. Galaxy note 2 pretty awesome

I'm not trying to be a hater but it's just frustrating that the phone that should be the flagship, the benchmark for which all android phones are made are run of the mill or average. Seems kind of silly to me. I know they compromise for price, but give people options.

You now own Motorola google build a 6" phone with a 3500 mah battery. Android 4.4 sd card slot 18 mp camera. I know that's crazy but they should be ahead of everyone else in all reality

Re: Nexus 5... So it's here

Me too. Hopefully we'll get a CDMA compatible version.

People having been dreaming of that since the Original Nexus heck even I was but look what Verizon did they released the Incredible and passed it off as better.

Then the Galaxy Nexus came along, finally a Nexus on VZW!! But the wait was agonizing cause it took almost two months to come out on the stupid carrier because of their dumb delays and BS.

Yeah don't think Google is going to give their baby to Verizon anymore they just eff everything up.

So the battery assumption for this is superior to everything in the top list, probably closest to Moto X or Note 2 times (they're both pretty similar in hours), well below the Droid Maxx (36-56 hours consistently reported).
I'm not sure how the Nexus line is run of the mill or average in anything other than the complaints about the previous cameras, which are pretty legitimate. With OIS and better software hopefully that trend is changing.

Moto has a 5" phone with a 3500MAh battery and a 10MP camera already. No indication that they or Google care about the really big phone market yet (that market is pretty tiny and with Samsung already deep in it, there's not much opportunity for share without a substantial game changer). SD cards are not supported by stock Android, so it'd be extremely surprising to ever see them in another Nexus device. Moto could add support, but based on the last 4 devices they released, they clearly seem to agree with Google's perspective.

If I remember correctly, there were several upset users on Verizon due to the Galaxy Nexus. I have the GSM version that I use for international travel, which is great. However, I hear that reception and battery life were rather horrible on Verizon's Galaxy Nexus.

Yeah it was bad news bears the battery life was horrendous. The GNex was the first phone I was flashing roms on weekly.

That's actually a good deal!
Yeah it's amazing for the rates we have here. The rates in Canada are the highest in the world, this is an unheard of plan. That's why I am hoping the nexus 5 will be running on CDMA as well.

Verizon was the first place people could by the G Nex in the US, but it was almost a month after it was available in Canada. It was announced mid October, hit Canada in mid Novemeber and hit Verizon in mid December.
