Upgrades pushed back to 24 months

I wonder if this could allow you to cancel the contract. Since they are changing the terms of your contract.

I've got 3 lines whose contracts end on June 13, I think it's time to try tmobile in Rockford Illinois and the N4

They are taking the position that it doesn't because it is not in the terms of the agreement with the customer.

FYI - just because Verizon takes that position doesn't mean it would stand up in court. However, you would have to be knowledgeable enough about the law to make your case to get them to give in. I doubt the average person is. A written contract is not the be all and end all of the contractual agreement between 2 parties.

Guess it's a good thing I just paid full price for the Note 2 since my upgrade wasn't until November.

My 4 lines are up next month and I am fed up with getting nickeled and dimed for everything. They do have the market cornered from a coverage standpoint in my area, but I am willing to sacrifice lte for a little while rather than pay even more down the road. No T-mo in my area, so I am giving sprint a try. At least they have lte on the horizon. I would prefer att, but I'm afraid they will go in the same direction.

Not really a big deal to me, I always switch our family to a new carrier when our 24 month contract is up. Wireless companies don't care about retaining their existing customers, but love new customers. You get big discounts on new phones around the end of Nov (when our family plan expires), you can often get fees waived for switching and other discounts. This is the reason I have all my lines start and stop and the same time, makes switching easy. Also switching is really easy. So in Nov. back to AT&T we go. I prefer the Verizon Network, but AT&T is now good enough for my needs.

After that who knows, maybe Sprint will get actually get bought out and someone will spend enough to build a true LTE Network - not just towers in select cities. My last experience with Sprint (before data plans was pretty bad so I don't have a lot of confidence in Sprint. T-Mobile - will see, their parent really does not want to spend the money required to even have good coverage on their existing network, hard to see them building a LTE network that will be useful outside of a few cities. Tried a T-mobile prepaid SIM in a phone a few months ago - wow - was really bad - just making voice calls in my area.

If VZW is going to require people to keep the same phone for two years, they should be required by law to repair any hardware problems that arise (even from misuse) and issue timely maintenance for OS upgrades.

Just get the extended warranty, $2 per month.

Atleast im not effected!! My upgrade is 4/30/13. We have been dealing with our crap droid 3 for way to long and we couldn't wait another 4 months!! lol

Once the 21st rolls around, anyone with an upgrade that is scheduled to arrive before September 1, 2013 (or essentially a contract that expires in January of 2014), will get to keep the same upgrade date. For those with upgrade dates later than 9/1/13, your next upgrade will be moved onto a new 24 month schedule or ?aligned to contract terms.? Yes, that means Verizon is moving to 24 month upgrade cycles.

I remember when Sprint did this. They also let some people (me included) to do a one-time upgrade before the 24 month upgrade time frame. Hopefully Verizon does the same for you guys :)

We are on sprint and have 5 lines on one contract, each one has an upgrade time of 18 months not 24.

LOL...I've long known where to go and get a laugh if I'm feeling down...the local Verizon Store. they're not feigning ignorance, that's genuine.

Actually I've noticed that at all of the carrier stores the sales reps and even the managers are left out of the loop. So it is quite possible that this happened and verizon failed to inform their lower end employees. It happens all the time with Sprint. They have such big companies, that lack of communication is bound to happen somewhere.

Verizon did share this information, here is an excerpt. Now whether it passed down to the sales reps depends on individual store management

Not sure how to make sense of this, but today got an email from VZW offering me an upgrade for three specific phones "because of my loyalty." When I logged to my account, the earliest discounted upgrade date is this July. My HTC Rezound was originally purchased in November '11.

If any of them less than 20 months? The rezound upgrade is based on the current policy of 20 months since the upgrade is before September

Awesome. I had an upgrade available this October. I checked the account last night & they bumped it to February 2014. What a bunch of turds. T-Mobile really needs to expand their coverage.

Same for me. I am hoping TMobile gets better before then as well. I really would like to switch. Tired of giving money to a company that doesn't seem to appreciate me as a customer.
