Well good luck to all those that kept theirs. I decided I'm returning mine today. I got the Huawei watch yesterday since it was on sale for $300 at Best Buy. The display is not as good and the speaker hasn't been unlocked yet but at least I'll have a warranty on it.

No matter what the CSR's said, I'm no mood to fight either AT&T nor LG. I just have a feeling they won't honor the warranty and the best they'll do is give you a replacement of either the Urbane or the Gear S2, and I'm not taking either. I've been burned in the past where the CSR or person selling me the item, told me one thing and the manufacturer told me another.

For those worried about the warranty, have you ever had to use one before on an electronic? I don't think I've ever once had a piece of electronic gear break on me within the 1 year warranty, ever.

I really don't think my watch will either.

Gear best ships to us and Canada and they have the best price. I've never used them before though. I got mine off eBay it was more then gear best and it took 4-5 weeks to get here. I've been using it as my stand alone phone and it's been awesome.Thing that sucks is you only get around 1.5 hours on screen time, that's with 8 hours standby. And the only other down side it theres three small screws to get at the SIM card. I saw on another forum for this watch guys in the us used gear best.com and there watches came fast.

Famous last words. 😉

I've used warranties on several occasions. Certainly not often, but it's a gamble. You also have to remember that the device will most likely never receive an update since officially it doesn't exist.

Re: Watch release cancelled

Well, I'm taking the gamble. My return period is over on Monday, and I'm going to keep it. I love it and I haven't had a single issue with it. Hopefully the phantom "hardware" issue won't come up for at least a year or until the Urbane 3rd Edition comes out.

Same here: Only warranty I ever needed was pointless in the case of the constantly breaking Samsung gear s cradles. I decided to take my chances.

For now, the only thing i don't like about the LG is that it undercounts my steps, and the battery indicator is BS: I can't ever know for sure what my battery percentage is, yet, it has never died on me yet. What will make this watch awesome is when more and more apps will work in stand-alone mode.

I love my Gear S' curved AMOLED screen, but the LG feels superior in any other way. A non-connected and GPS-less watch is not for me after owning the Gear S for a year, and the only other one, the S2, had an embedded sim, so pointless for me.

I have the urbane 2nd LTE coming. The k8 3G is a Chinese watch. But for the price the thing is awesome. Has a round 1.4 inch oled 400 by 400 pixel screen. Runs full android 4.4.2. Nano SIM card slot. I'm in Canada and the 3G works great with Fido. It has gps wifi Bluetooth... Pretty much everything a phone will have. The watch is all black. Watch is aluminum and band is black leather. They are 110 online right now. If you google k8 3G round smartwach you will see pictures and more specs on it. You can reply to text sms with a full keyboard or voice... You can have your wifi as a hotspot. It does everything and it's about the same size as the urbane 2 but a little thinner. I was able to put android wear on the watch so I can use my watch to put watch faces on my other watch haha.
Thanks for the tip - may be worth to get in addition to the LG. What brand is yours and could you post a link to the one you bought? There are a bunch of different brands utilizing the 8k 3G naming, some of them are not even round, so the difference between them is pretty vast. How long does the batery last with 3G and GPS tracking on?

Re: Watch release cancelled

My 14 expired yesterday 11/28/2015 but I kept mine. Should anything happen with the watch/display then I will contact ATT and argue that their information page regarding the recall does not state a time frame to return the device. That should be enough to get the device returned at a later date. As for warranty stuff, I have used it allot. Mostly for phones, OG Note 8 times replaced in the 1st year, due to various issues.

Keeping mine also - great watch - probably lose number sync option - but better than Samsung Gear - which I also have and do not use.

Major screw up by L G - they also announced they are splitting company into new areas - admitted bad management! Gee no kidding L G,
with the cancellation of your latest watch ( one week and you trash bin it) you'll look incompetent and stupid.

Re: Watch release cancelled

I went on a long walk this morning with my watch running stand alone and Runkeeper without my Note 5. I turned off BT on my phone before I left. GPS locked less than 5 seconds with Wear GPS app. When I got back, my girlfriend told me my Note 5 kept talking while I was gone. I guess the Runkeeper app was running on my Note 5 and was connected to my watch via internet. Awesome stuff. Although, the Runkeeper app would crash once in a while. Do you guys recommend any other fitness apps that's more reliable. I read review about Ghostracer but I read comments about unreliability as well.

Only tried Runkeeper (no crashes ever) and Ghostracer so far myself, but I heard Endomondo also works in stand-alone mode. Maybe the phone talking to your watch caused the crash. I would try putting the phone in airplane mode, then use Runkeeper to test this out.

I really don't want to put my phone in airplane mode because I still want to get important notifications.

I had my first real test today tracking a run with the watch and it worked perfectly. I used Endomondo to track a 39 minute run of 4.3 miles and I didn't have any hiccups. I used the 'Wear Media' app to download 1 GB of music onto the watch last night and I was able to use this app on the watch to play and control music through my bluetooth headset while running. I used 'Wear GPS' to get a signal lock in about 30 seconds before starting the run. This was a regular trail I use and the distance and mapped route synced from Endomondo to my phone was spot on. I have been unable to get data working on the watch since I use an ATT based MVNO and the APN settings appear to be off, but I can receive texts and make calls. I forwarded my calls from the phone to my watch phone number and I used the app 'SMS Fordwarder' made by Yasmani to forward my texts. I received a forwarded text during the run and I was able to review, discard and return to Endomondo with no problems. Pretty cool. I didn't receive any audio cues in the headset during the run but the watch did vibrate each time I completed a mile and the app showed my time for that mile for about 5 seconds before returning to the total running time. Under the settings for Endomondo in the Android app there is a section for Smartwatches>Android Wear that you can use to customize how you want the app to act when running.

I had planned on returning or selling the watch this week before I found the 'Wear GPS' trick and after this first test I think I'll be keeping it :)

Side Note: After fully charging the watch I was in "Always On' screen mode for an hour (brightness level 2) before the run. When I returned to my car after the run about 45 minutes later my battery level said 89%. Not bad at all (If the reading is accurate).

Re: Watch release cancelled

Have not tried Endomondo yet, but will try today. Totally impressed with their smartwatch settings, but of course still no force GPS for the Gear S. I am selling the Gear S on Ebay, and will be keeping the LG watch as well.

I feel like the few of us who managed to buy one, hold a piece of smartwatch future in our hands.

ditto - it is great watch - taking my chances also - looked all over internet for extra charging cradle, none to be found - have Gear S 2 - watch faces are mediocre at best - no GPS - returning Gear S 2 and keeping Urbane 2nd edition. L G has no mention of Urbane LTE website - tried to email comments
- had to list model number to send - LG is amazing - sorry folks we screwed up and we are not ansewering questions or giving insight into future plans - what a horrible PR blunder by this company. Would have bought new L G phone to go with Urbane - not now - untrust worthy comes to mind.

I looked for an extra charging cable as well, no luck :(
If this one breaks, I'm screwed!!!

I got my urbane the other day and it's a nice watch. I also have the k8 3G round smart watch. The urbane is a better made watch but not by a ton. Both screens are the same size but the urbane as a little more pixel density, but it's not super noticeable. Urbane is a little smaller but thicker. Both look great. I use the urbane with a iPhone and it's very limited on what it can do. With sim installed I can make calls and text from watch no prob. On the other had the k8 can do anything. Call text with a keyboard, add contact right to watch, use wifi, download apps on Google play right from watch. I like the urbane but the k8 can do so much more. The call quality is not bad on both but it's a little better on the urbane. I'm leaning towards just keeping both of them right now but I may sell the urbane and make some money on it. I only paid 240 bucks for it on eBay that day before it was canceled.
