US release date could be July 12th!

I used to work in the shipping business and these kind of shipping 'pops' are usually handled something like this:
1. Shipping labels are created and printed at the shipping origin. A tracking number is assigned at the time the label is printed. The label has barcodes containing the tracking number, destination address, and other information.
2. Labels are put on boxes of product.
3. When the boxes are ready to be handed over to UPS, an electronic manifest report is transmitted from the shipper to UPS. This can occur anytime but typically it is sent at the end of each day and includes data for all of the shipments prepared that day (tracking numbers, destinations, etc.). When UPS receives this data they usually post something like 'Billing info received' in the tracking status.
4. Usually when shipments are picked up by the courier the label barcode is scanned as a pickup checkpoint. But in a large batch the boxes may already be palletized so they are not scanned at pickup, but will be scanned later as they transit service centers, sort centers, etc. Many status checkpoint scans can occur as the shipment moves from origin to destination but only a few key updates are shown in the tracking status on the UPS website.

I would be surprised if Google were doing this themselves. I would expect them to contract this whole process out to UPS or let a distributor (or ASUS?) handle it.
Note that at step 1 Google had all of the information needed to send the notification email that I received on Friday night. They could have sent it anytime so it maybe they got to step 3 on Friday, or maybe it's still bogus.

The shipping sequence/priority seems random. Sometimes label batches (step 1) are printed by destination state or zipcode as a presort for UPS, rather than by order date.

I hope they are not sitting around with piles of shipping labels and no product to put them on.

My N7 situation:
Ordered during keynote on June 27, 16Gig, no case.
Received email that it had shipped on Friday July 13 at 9:33 pm. My credit card was also charged on Friday.
Current status:
>>> UPS could not locate the shipment details for your request. Please verify your information and try again later.

Same here... Others have stated that UPS DOES work over the weekend. So I would have expected my tracking info that I received at 8pm on Friday to have been updated IF it was ever at UPS in the first place.. The fact that it still hasn't been updated leads me to believe otherwise :(

I hope I'm wrong.

UPS does work on the weekend. But the only packages they work on is packages stated for Saturday delivery. Our packages are not Saturday delivery. The packages aren't even in UPSs hands yet. We got the emails about our tracking numbers because Google or who ever is sending them sent the package info to UPS. As soon as UPS picks up the packages and starts to ship them we will see progress on our shipments

So I just checked my credit card and Google CREDIT $280.85 BACK to my account. Still no shipping info and Google Wallet still says Google received my order. Should I call customer service? Seems so odd.

If UPS doesn't get these out until Monday, most of us probably won't get them until Wednesday.
And they "shipped" on Friday (when most of us got tracking numbers).
Why did we pay $13 for "2-day" shipping?
But hey, they shipped in mid-July, so Google hit its goal.

I've been regretting not get the 16gb version the last couple of days. Been considering refusing the shipment of my 8gb and picking up the 16 at GameStop today. Kind of feel dirty doing that. Someone be my moral compass.

Well if you don't want the 8gb, then there's no harm in returning it. Keep in mind that they've said it will take up to 2 weeks to process a return (or refusal of shipment) and refund your card, so you'll have to be able to float both purchases until you get the refund for the 8gb

Now, as for getting the 16gb there's 2 ways you could do it... return the 8gb and order the 16gb from the play store, or get the 16gb locally. Given that it's unlikely that you'd get the 16gb from the play store in under a week, it would make sense to go get one locally if one is available.

It's not like you're just running out and buying another 8gb locally because you're unwilling to wait, and then refusing the 8gb you ordered.

Well, I don't know how much help I will be. I was able to get the 16GB at Sam's Club for $246 + tax. It didn't make me regret anything. With Google Play, I was paying pretty much $230 after tax and shipping. I will say I wouldn't have even put a dent in the 8GB with what I have downloaded and installed so far. But in another month, that will probably be another story.

Also, I'm not refusing delivery on my Play order. I have a friend who is going to buy it from me. So, maybe you can do something like that and spare the guilty feeling? Haha.

My kind of compass. Thanks.

Yea I am having the same issue too.
That's because they haven't actually shipped them. I'm in the same boat. Phoney tracking number (well, its real, just not live yet) to placate us. It actually annoys me more to have a tracking number that's useless.

Is there anyone who has a scheduled delivery date of Monday 7/16 whose shipping label wasn't created on 7/12? Seems like everyone who has a Monday delivery had their labels made on 7/12, thinking that's the only batch that actually went out.

a salesperson at Office Depot in SJ CLAIMS that they expect a shipment to be sent to them on Tuesday (of next week) and should arrive a few days after. we'll see ( i asked her pointedly if those will be for sale to anyone walking in the door--she said "yes")
