No, if you realize how those 'retailer' and 'manufacturer' relationship works, it is completely logical why GS stores have these devices prior to PS pre-orders. You see, because of promotions and etc, all stores receive product before hand about 3~4 days or even a week. After that, they sell those product. If you look at any games and consoles, same thing happens. When manufacturer or seller finally approves to sell, they release their stock.

You can conclude this by Staples and e-buyers and etc retailers are not releasing their stock to the public yet.

I really love how Google screws their customers and then when they get fed up and decide to not give them their business Google decides to hold their money hostage. I can't cancel my order before I've been charged for it and I also can't get my money back until they get the package back and decide to process my return. That is a great way to keep loyal customers! I am just skipping this piece of garbage and sticking to my iPad.

I'm pretty sure that's the standard operating procedure for many orders online.

I recently ordered an item through PETCO and the post office was not able to deliver it due to the address not being specific enough (They auto-corrected my shipping address, which wiped out the suite number for my office, and I didn't notice). I saw on my tracking that it was going back to the sender, so I called both PETCO and USPS to get it intercepted and the address changed, but neither could do anything about it. I decided to have PETCO cancel the order, which they did, but they said they couldn't refund me until they physically get the package.

I think that's acceptable. People can't always be trusted.

Agreed. And I'm glad Google has started to communicate something. With the automated message, the status on the Play Store and through G+. Now I just have to wait for it to ship and arrive, but it makes me feel good that it should be here next week.

My Google Play orders page now shows the 16gb Nexus 7 up at the top of the list. Still says completed, as always. Guessing that's just automatic whenever the charge get's pushed through.

For those that had their charges or temp holds come in way early and/or disappear, it's likely because of a combination of what type of card you used as well as what bank you're with.

For all those labeling some of us as whiners: I pre-ordered for the guarantee to get a tablet, not to be the first to have it in my hand. Still poor business practice on the part of Google, but hey better to have a great product than to have to wait even longer because the initial stockpile ran out.
