Anyone who buys a Nexus 7, activates it with their google account, and accesses the Play Store will get the $25 credit no matter where they buy it from.

Yeah what I meant was that yes there are "waves" that Google is preparing shipments for, but they're not Apple and want to get the devices to everyone who preordered them when it's released. I think they have waves of dates to prepare shipments, but in the end they'll all get shipped on the same day anyway, and if not, it'll only be a few days delay, not until mid August like some people have said

Of course, Google Play ordering is still the better option here considering you can get an additional $25 in apps when ordering direct but when these devices it hit stores, it should help those waiting to get a hands-on before diving in help decide if it's everything they are expecting.

Chris whiffed on that one. The $25 credit, as stated by Google, is applied when you activate the Nexus 7 device. The point of sale is irrelevant.

I just ordered an 8 gig this morning when I saw the "supposed" release date. I leave for vacation on July 21 and would love to have this puppy prior to then. I was going to wait until I got back but seeing these rumors got me all hot and bothered. This will be my first tablet and my wife has been wanting to get a Kindle Fire - I can not wait to show her this thing instead.

FYI - For what it is worth after placing my order I realized that I entered the wrong shipping address (home instead of the office). I called Google to update it and flat out asked Customer Service Rep Wade when this was shipping. He laughed and said "soon". I asked about the Staples ad and he said that he can "neither confirm nor deny" that report.

Agree I leave on the 20th for vacation. I'd love to have this loaded up and ready before the 19th (my wife wont be too happy about packing the car alone while I play with a new gadget.)

Staples is reporting 13th-17th. On the tracking page, it says 17th, but I think that is just generic. Those dates coincide with many of the rumors out there. That could mean since people will get them on the 13th, they must start shipping on the 10th-11th. Good news galore!

The 8gb version is only available in the Google Play store. You can get the 16gb in retail stores as well.

I do not know. I assume they would make more 16gb versions seeing as those can sell both online and in retailers. Therefore, it just depends on what Google predicted we would do.

I'm only the 2nd person from my Gamestop to pre-order the Nexus 7. I just hope that Google sends them 2, since I'm on Wave 2 and Mitch(one of the managers at Gamestop) is on Wave 1. I'm just hoping that it's not as much "Wave 1" and "Wave 2" for my Gamestop, as much as it is them just sending a set amount to them.

I think they are going to ship the number ordered in relation to when they were ordered. Yes it's only one, but I can see google not sending it due to getting the people who ordered before you their tablets... Or they all send a bunch to each gs and it won't matter.

I ordered on the 28th so hoping it comes soon. I leave on the 25th for a vacation and would love to have it well before

I was the first person from the store I ordered mine from, I ordered it the same day Gamestop's press release came out since it was in their system (the day after it was announced at Google I/O.)

Apparently the SKU in their system changed which made my receipt when I paid it off to say 2nd Wave. Yet the manager there (whom I have become friends with over the years) says the system shows I'm in the first wave. Either way when they come in, The first is being set aside for me since I was the first pre-order.

Yes it was charged you will receive the item. It was to prevent the hold charge from hanging on there.
