Instructions for grading:

Using the 3 categories below, give each category a grade for the Evo LTE, then an overall grade.n Check out my example:

Functionality / features / Specs (50% of grade)

B+, The fact is, 2012 was supposed to be the year for Quadcore. But that hasn't panned out. So, when you consider that this phone is missing a Quadcore chipset, dual LED flash, the 3D camera its predecessor came with, and add the fact that LTE coverage will be very limited at best when the phone is released, it gets a generous B+ for all the other specs and the stuff the phone CAN do.

Design / aesthetic appearance (30% of grade)

B- This is not the best looking phone out there but its still beautiful, the One X has it slightly beat in that department. But if the removable Back was not shiny, this grade would be changed to B+. Also, if the screen was streched to the sides of the device, it would get an A-

Price (20% of grade)

A- Let's face it: Free would be a perfect score, but we have to face reality. Given that other carriers (Aaaachoooo Verizon Aaaaachoooo) have been charging $299 for their high end phones, its good to see Sprint sticking with the $199 price point for this nicely made smartphone

Overall Grade:

B+ Yes, I am getting this phone on launch day!

Specs would have to an A. It may not be quad core, but the dual core it has smokes the quads in benchmarks. Plus, there is not quad I'm aware of that is available that supports LTE

Design is a C to me. The back of this phone looks like Frankenstein.

Price is an A also. Can't get any cheaper for a top twirling phone

Re: Using an academic scale, what grade would you give the Evo LT

Function:
This phone, spec wise, is almost the perfect combination for me. What would make it perfect would be 2200+ mAh battery size (I would gladly sacrifice some thickness for a bigger battery), and 32GB internal storage (I would much rather have a larger internal storage with the unified storage model than an SD card slot).
A-

Design:
You know the more I see this phone the more it grows on me. It is not ugly by any means, but i think its downfall is the breathtaking design of the One X. When the One X debuted, I built a picture of what the Evo would look like in my head. When it came out and completely diverged from what i had imagined I was a little disappointed. I haven't been able to fully get past that. If the back removable part was matte it would get a +
B

Price:
$199 on contract is really good deal for a high end phone like this. I will hold finally judgment until they announce the off contract price because that is what I will be paying if i choose to get this phone when it comes out.
A-

Overall:
B+

Its between this and GSIII

Overall grade? How much weight do you give each category in your opinion?

Overall I would give it a B+/A-. Kind of like the last poster said, with the beautiful design of the One X, this phone just looks pieced together for me. If the top piece was a matte/soft touch plastic it would go a long way towards changing my mind.

Re: Using an academic scale, what grade would you give the Evo LT

Functionality/Features/Specs:
This is fairly top of the line. Sure it may 'only' have a dual-core, but keep in mind that the architecture is somewhat based off of Cortex A-15 (the next generation architecture for SoCs) while the Tegra 3 is running on a Cortex A-9. The only thing they didn't get right is the fact that the battery is non removable.
Solid A

Design/Aesthetics:
It's not so much the phone is ugly, it's more or less that we have set expectations of anticipating for this phone to look like the One X. In my opinion, this phone looks really nice. The only niggle I have with this phone is the glossy portion of the back side but it's not that big of a deal.
B+

Price:
This should be expected. HTC follows the golden price for smartphones ($200 on a 2-year contract). There's not much to add on to this.
A+

Overall:
A

The s4 is a powerful chip. Camera looks superb especially coming from a galaxy nexus. The screen is so good it looks fake at times. The un removable battery doesn't bother me much. SD card slot is a plus. I give it an A

The look as well doesn't bother me I think there will be changeable backs in the long run and I love the kick stand so I would give it an A

You can't beat that price! I bought my galaxy nexus for 300 and this phone kills my galaxy nexus so I would go with an A

Overall A
