Using Wi-Fi causes Cell Standby bug (Verizon)

Yup, I always turn all that off. Also one thing I have different than you.. I have the WiFi to not be on when the phone is sleeping. Leaving WiFi always awake, many times it will cause apps not even in use, to wake the phone using WiFi to send location info to Google.
Cool Thx. So if i make that change to turn wifi off when sleeping, and I'm using Google music or Pandora, or other streaming services with the screen off, does the phone still use wifi for the data?

That I don't know because I don't know how those services affect the sleeping of the phone. I would think the phone isn't asleep when streaming. You might need to test that some.

Agreed and will do.

I think my 5GHz theory is debunked... Cell standby went up 2 more percent since I made the change... And I've been watching the Pirates/Brewers game most of the time with the phone off (*screen off).

Well this is odd, because like the AT&T LG user posted having the issue, I was on AT&T until 3 weeks ago and on Samsung phones and I never had the issue then either.

I have a Note 5 on Verizon and when at home for 12 hrs with WiFi on I don't get cell standby to even show up on the chart. When out and about with WiFi on very little at different local establishments I still don't get cell standby to show up on the chart. I don't know what this all means but I do know I am not getting cell standby to use noticeable battery.

I have a feeling that some signal comes into play, maybe some regional area technology possibly also.

But that is just a guess from what people are posting here.

Well here's today..

Have any of you reported this to Verizon? I've been on standby since I charged last, WiFi on and just checked FB a couple of mins ago and sent a text. WiFi isn't causing hi standby for me.

I just posted in a Verizon community forum.. I can't put the link here as I don't yet have 10 posts. Once I do I'll update the post. Google "Verizon cell standby wifi" and you'll see it. If Verizon gets enough people complaining, perhaps they'll respond sooner with a fix.

I actually found the thread in the S6/S6 Edge discussion area. Pretty sure this issue impacts all Verizon phones on Lollipop.
