V30 Leaked in images again (Update: Confirmation from LG)

Re: Leaked in images again

Every leak I've seen shows a flat screen like the G6. Subtle curved sides yes, but a flat screen.

I've seen a couple with curved screens, but I hope they don't use them. The V- series line is supposed to be durable, not fragile.

The V series is supposed to be a lot of things but it's getting a major overhaul and facelift.

Yeah, true. But they should leave the curves and edges for the G-series. Onviously its too late, the phone is probably already in production.

And the glass I meant to add.
To support wireless charging I would have done one of two things

Made the back a colored plastic with a polycarbonate overlay which would have given it a glass look. It would still get scratches but it would be fairly shatterproof

Made a metal back with a LG badge insert in the middle made out of a material compatible with wireless charging.

Those are some pretty cool ideas. How do you think the costs of that versus the costs of a glass back? Like would those be cheaper alternatives compared to glass?

I meant polycarbonate overlay not plastic. I don't think having two layer Plastic would cost more. It could also be one layer with the color impregnated.

Re: Leaked in images again

Polycarbonate back??? Thunder rolls, lightning crashes and the worldwide gasp of horror and anguish is deafening.... Lol... Lol... Lol

As much as I would love to see this, no tech writer will ever endorse it including those here on AC... you know it, I know it and everyone else does too..

You know what? I get really sick and tired of all the bs these people put out about how a phone looks Sexy, Futuristic, and Trendy these days... It's not a frigging runway model.. It's a phone for crying out loud... I become ill when I here them say "outdated design" or something like that when you and I know differently.

I know what we feel doesn't matter 1 iota to them but I wish it did.

If they ever grew a set and actually built a top of the line specd power users phone with all the bells and whistles we all love using the absolute best components it would be a game changer

Re: Leaked in images again

Sorry LG. This is a goodbye. I can't do curved screens... as you can see from the side it's curved. Plus removing all the key features from its predecessor. No mention of dual pixel technology... going to get the S8 Active probably and keep my V20 around.

A s8 Active? No Thanks.. Been there /done that with the Active line and won't waste my money again..

Some people care about the looks .. You aren't one. It doesn't make them wrong for saying what they think about the phone :P.

Never said it made them wrong now did I... Lol

I do care about the looks BTW just not putting anything Not made with a glass into some "outdated" categories as seems to be the thing these days with all of the tech writers

I didn't say it would happen, I was stating how I would do it. If I buy a phone made out of glass, the glass will only see daylight between case changes.

Re: Leaked in images again

Just been reading elsewhere that the V30 will have an f/1.6 aperture on the main sensor. That would make it the widest ever on a phone and hopefully make a big difference for low light shots

F1.8 to F1.6 is a third of a stop faster so it will be a slight improvement but nothing drastic, you'd need an f1.2 lens just to get a single stop improvement from f1.8.

And I would also do it like that.. My u11 is never out of its case..

How you liking the U11?

It's really a fantastic device except it has a glass back, sealed battery and a slightly curved screen and no ir blaster or fm radio in it. You also need to keep the screen brightness down around 50 % to get 5-6 hours screen on time like I get since I can't swap in a fresh battery like with my v20.

The audio and camera is excellent too BTW.

If you can live without somethings we've grown accustomed to it's a very striking looking phone without a case on it that does way better than most people would give it credit for, especially on battery life, audio and the camera.

Curved screen has been confirmed for the V30, as well as the 6.0" OLED display.

Lets see how this plays out.

Re: Leaked in images again

I'm willing to wait and see what LG has in store for the V30 when they unveil it later this month but about the only rumor that has me excited is the OLED screen. If they ditch the 2nd screen then I'll most likely get the Note 8 instead.
