Varying Wifi speed

I have strange wifi speed with my n4. I use an asus n56 router(a couple of moth old) with a 100/100mbps internet connection.
All my other devices (n7, sgs1 and sgs2 and 2 laptops) work great.
With my n4 the speed over wifi is most often low but sometimes great. Let me try to explain.
My n7(running stock 4.2.1) is constantly getting speeds like 35/11 mbps while my n4(also stock 4.2.1) most of the time get 8/11mbps (I use a swedish speedtest app as reference).
But from time to time the n4 shows speeds lika 40/12 mbps. These times seems to be after I have restarted the router(not always) or if I have made some changes in the router settings(but not always). The times when the speed is good are varying very much, from 1 minute to some hours =/ It is really hard to explain the behavior as it is inconstant. The download speed isnt only low in the speedtests but also when I try to download apps throgh playstore. From what I can tell it seems like the download speed is the thing that acts strange.

I have tried with different router-firmware, different router settings, factory reset of the phone and different wifi-settings in the phone. Nothing seems to help, at least not permanent.
I havent tried the phone on so many other networks yet but I will do that as soon as possible.

I wonder if anyone else has strange wifi-speeds? Can it be hardware or software issue? Or does it have to do with the router?

I think the problem is the compatibility of the phone with the Wi-Fi. Out might also be someone taking your internet or using it.
I get about half the speed on my nexus that i do on my computer so i think it's a software issue
