Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

I'm just hoping for Verizon LTE and a very solid metal body. Samsung has great internals, but the plastic ruins it for me. That and I want it to kick the SGS2 out of the water.
Very True !!! Samsung makes cheappy hardware. HTC & Motorola are some of the best.

I see people say this a lot, but my Samsung hasn't got even a little nick or scratch on it. Their actual hardware is as good as any OEM on the market. The original galaxy S line was top tier spec wise when it was launched, and the SGS 2 is filling those shoes again. So exactly how do they make 'cheappy hardware'?

I'm with you. Too many people keep spitting this out. Apparently they don't find Samsung's plastic to be the same high quality as HTC's plastic. All I know is that my Nexus is miles ahead of my EVO in terms of build quality. And Samsung has the best internals by far

I CONCUR!

Sorry, I accidentally turned Caps Lock on and I couldn't bring myself to retype that, lol. :p

Anyway, I agree about Samsung making quality hardware. I've had an OG Droid, a Nexus S, and a Tab 10.1. Both of the latter two feel like solid, quality devices, but I honestly don't think I could say that for my Droid. The plastic doesn't make it feel 'cheap' at all. Especially when you know how strong and durable that plastic really is, it's almost like polycarbonate.

I disagree... HTC may make better build-quality (unibody designs, soft touch paint, not alot of plastic, etc.) on some phones than Samsung, but Sammy's internals are the best... just look at their Exynos processor (same clock speed as Qualcomm, but actually runs faster and better)

It's a Nexus phone, so like the Nexus One and S before it it will have pure 10% vanilla Android. No Sense, no Blur, and No Touchwiz.

I don't know why any other interface exists. Whether sense or touchwiz they all use up processor and add absolutely nothing. Why do these manufacturers waste a fortune developing this garbage?

Well I will say I miss the touchwiz camera, but other than that, I havent missed anything since switching to AOSP..

Really? No offense, but you do understand what confirmed means right? And the definition of rumor? I'm not saying he's wrong, but no one else has caught wind of this at all. There's no blurry can shot. There's nothing. Hell, devices change while they're being made. Until its actually CONFIRMED, like by another outlet, or source, nothing is actually known. Sorry people, that's just the truth. He may be 100% right, or he could be 100% wrong or anything in between. I'll wait for something a bit more tangible than a forum post
no it was more like you made it sound like you were trying to discredit phil. Now I see where you are coming from and that's not the case. I know it isn't whatever phil says goes but he does have a lot of credit and rep in my book so I find it hard to just dissmiss him until someone else who may not have the same source as phil stumbles on something. So yeah misunderstanding

Oh, okay. No, I'm definitely not trying to discredit him, I'm just saying nothing is official or confirmed. Everything can change. Yep, just a misunderstanding

Well, people are using "confirmed" in different contexts. I'm sure Phil removed "unconfirmed" because he trusts his source and he has reliable second-hand information that this phone is actually happening.

However, nothing is "officially confirmed" until it comes directly from somebody at Verizon/Samsung. That is the type of confirmation that some people are waiting for.

yeah this is where i was going with my earlier post but was on my way out the door with the wife so couldn't say this LOL.

Come on now, let's be a little honest - Sense adds things to Android that is missing in stock. Specifically in the contact management part of it.

No manufacturer's interface adds anything that you can't find in the Market if you want it. Even HTC Sense is considered bloatware by some.

In my opinion, all manufacturers/carriers should have 2 options for each device they sell, 1 with their additional software & 1 completely stock Android.

Agree, like how TouchWiz will be an option for Galaxy Tab.

I've said this before and I will say it again. NOBODY does plastic better than Samsung. The build quality of their product is top notch in my opinion.

As much as I love Sammy, we have had several in our house. The plastic is good only because of a tolerant fit on a hard plastic frame. It can and will sqeake, scratch, and shatter. I do think it is a race of the one who can coat the plastic with the best materiel, and clip it to the best substructure, because HTC and Sammy are on it, and Moto is jumping in on the plastic game. I want the phone that biodegrades in two years. I have a 32 and a 56 inch Sammy TV, and that is some cheap plastic housing that good tech. IMO, it is all about the attachment of the plastic and critical stress points and the design of the carriage holding the hardware. That is my independent .02

I never understood why a plastic body is such a huge negative to some people. Probably because I always put cases on all my phones - so they all feel the same.

Or unless you are used to premium coatings on metal phones....either or I suppose....
