Verizon Galaxy Nexus (Prime) Waiting Room

this is supposed to be the phone that debuts ICS - so why would it have a home button to begin with?!

Everybody needs to calm down...it was probably in an altered shell to accommodate GB. I'm sure when the final product rolls out with ICS it will be button minimal. And if there happens to be a home button, every one of us will probably get it anyway.

Cant agree more. Its NOT running ICS yet, it NEEDS the home button for gingerbread. Its a PROTOTYPE.

Prototypes are like release dates, subject to changes. Plastic / cameras / lots of things could change or be wrong.

End rant.

Yep, that was my understaning as well. I was under the impression, maybe I'm wrong, that the last two Nexus phones released with the latest software at the time and the phone was used to show off the latest software. My guess is that the Prime will not have the home button on release and will launch with ICS.

Theres three theories behind that:

1) The phone is running Gingerbread as the software is completely ready
2) All the talk about ICS phones being buttonless is all wrong and they were talking about tablet (personally, I think Android phones will have buttons for a while.)
3) The article is bull and they don't know anything about this phone

It's not really worth getting worked up about this... take it for what it's worth.

I'm not worked up by any means. I'd like details on this device of course, but I think we'll hear an announcement by the end of Oct, which is around the corner.

If what im hearing is true then I may cross the nexus prime off my christmas list.

P3Driod on twitter is saying he's hearing that the prime won't be stock. It seems to be see longshot at this point. It was always a longshot. I was set on getting the GS2 so it's not a dealbreaker, but it's still disappointing.

So does this make the rumors of a Droid Prime true? Seems like the device is still coming to Verizon, just not stock (assuming TouchWiz 4).

I don't think it matters what the phone is called. I'm sure Samsung would rather have their skin on it.

Well now that it seems this might not be a Nexus for Verizon, I might reconsider. With the Vigor rumored to be coming out i make go with that. Though whether it's stock or not, I'm definitely giving this device a chance. Also Samsung is pretty dev friendly and Super Amoled Plus with an HD resolution might have the Vigor's HD display beat.

Does this go back to the rumors that the true Nexus Prime will come out before VZW's "Prime"?...Because no way is Google going to allow the first ICS phone to have a skin on top. I think I'm still getting VZW's Prime, but will TouchWiz 4.X be slapped on this device? I wonder bc it's ICS and I dunno if Samsung's had enough time with it to modify/port their UI. And why is Samsung gettin the first stab at ICS with their skin?

Though I have no doubt what P3Droid is saying, I hope with every single fiber of my body that he is wrong. (Or his sources) I was honestly dying for a stock android experience on Verizon. But in retrospect I suppose that this makes sense for a few reasons.
1. There have been rumors suggesting that the Prime will replace the Droid Charge, and If that is true then it would make sense for touch wiz to be on the Prime.
2. Though DroidGuy is said to have a bad track record he said that the phone he saw had a single home button. Maybe the reason it has the home button is because the phone wont be running stock android.
3. Everything seemed too good to be true... Verizon allowing a stock android experience on their network? Psh... Why would they pass up a great chance to fill an amazing phone with their bloatware?

All I can hope for now is something to contradict what P3Droid was hearing. **Crosses fingers**

Verizon will get the droid prime. Basically a nexus prime but with touchwiz on it. Verizon did this with the nexus one. Droid incredible was their version. If this happens, hello sprint

Interesting take (albeit slightly wrong) on history.

I hope he's wrong :/

I'm not expecting Samsung to go to a metal body, so i think we're still going to get plastic. The S is sturdy, doesn't bother me. LED is pretty likely I think. Expandable memory, not so much. I'm still of the belief that it kind d of goes against Google's cloud mentality

I'd say LED is a toss-up at this point. The Epic Touch SGSII has one, but the other 2 variants don't. At least Samsung knows the people want one. There's at least a 50% chance it has one, IMO.

Honestly, how bad will it be if it's not completely stock? If it's unlockable and easy to hack, we will be able to do whatever the hell we want with it. We can remove anything we don't want and we'll see AOSP-based ROMs. You can't beat that.
