I was all set to pre-order the Note 8 until I noticed it no longer says the device is eligible for upgrade after 50% is paid. I contacted a representative through the chat and I was assured it does qualify... Still skeptical, I called and was told the same thing. Has anyone been told anything different? I don't owe VZW for any device & I don't want to fall into a trap so to speak. I'm a phone junkie, and I don't want to be stuck paying for any device in full before I can upgrade again.

I did. First I did an online chat then I called. I'm just a bit skeptical because I've seen posts about them removing this option.
@amyf27, My phone wasn't purchased through VZW but it is a VZW branded phone.

Guys, I am cancelling my order. The price is too high for a phone and I get no perks at all. Some of you are getting $$$ off. I just don't feel right shelling out so much for the Note. Now a 30% off deal would get me excited. Perhaps in a couple of months after release. Cheers,

Yes I agree I think waiting is the better move, especially com October when Iphone8 is released and then black friday in November, there will be plenty of good deals for the Note8.

I can't upgrade because VZW wants me to completely pay off the s7e i got after the note7 recall before I am eligible :-(

Same here, I feel your pain, I really think VZW should honor the upgrade date of the original functioning phone we traded in for the recalled Note7.

We missed it by 5 days. I may to try sweet talking them into giving me a bump for my wife's S7E, but I still think it's a bad deal for those pushed into phones they didn't want in the first place due to this fiasco.

Went to Best Buy. Preordered on Sprint, since if I switch they pay off my current phone, plus 50% off Note 8, plus freebies from BB and Samsung. Using that as leverage with Verizon right now. Will update.

Tempting if you're successful, but not sure I'd want to try Verizon's bluff, personally. Not with Sprint, at least. My number is blacklisted (that's right, my number, not my phone) with them for going over my data allotment years ago on their "unlimited" plan. Lol

anyone who can get 50% off it's a total no brainer for Note 8.
even if VZW would have given me 25% off, which they do for Note 4, I would have done it now.

Went to the Verizon store. They have cleverly took out all S8+s and have hidden them and are just showing the Note 8 next to S8. Note 8 is a good looking phone, but it's basically a S8+ with a pen and better camera.

You know the dual lens will go on S9 and S9+ next anyway.

i went in a store and preordered my note 8, I had to pay off my S7E. I'll get the $480 discount if I turn in my S7E I'm debating keeping the S7E and turning in my Note 4 for the 25%. I also got $100 off a Gear S3 watch wasn't looking for a watch have the s2 but I like the fact that Samsung Pay swipe version works on the watch. I didn't have the best experience there though I was told about the watch deal the day before the Note 8 went on sale he said it was $150 off watch, then I went into the store the day the Note 8 preorder and was told by 4 employees that it was $200 off so no brainer get the watch but at check out I was told oops sorry its only $100 off I asked to talk to manager he said it's $100 don't know whol told you what while my sales person said we all told her $200 he said oh well people make mistakes I said bait and switch and he was a jerk. I did call 611 to conplain about him but didn't really get anywhere I just hope he gets a talking to.

I will be trading in my Note 5 for a discount out 480.00. I had to pay it off first, but I figured that. I also got an Otterbox symmetry case, car charger and screen protector for 60.00. The salesperson told me that I would be able to upgrade after a year, which is something I've never had before, so all in all, I'm happy with my Verizon experience

I was told by Verizon that it would ship on 9/12 and would be rec'd on 9/14. Also, it appears the SIM card has already shipped by FedEx 2-day and I'll have it on Monday.
