Verizon: Galaxy Note 8 Pre-Order Thread

Oh ok. Lol yeah I always wanted to play with one and someone told me it was discontinued and I don't know anyone with one so never got to play with it. Thanks but I don't have note 4. I went from note 3, note 5, note7, back to note 5 and soon note 8. Lol. Gosh the phones we go thru

Thinking about it, note sure I'll give them back my Note Edge. It's such a weird and unique phone. And $100 plus/minus is not a game changer. On the other hand I have a box of old phones that just sit in storage. haha. If the Note 8 proves to be problematic I can easily swap to Note Edge, but honestly all of my phones from VZW have been stellar.

Yeah same for my phones from Verizon. If you have any doubts you know second thoughts, think I would keep it for back up. Especially if you think you will miss it.

I did have to pay off my Pixel Xl before I could upgrade to Note 8, but I already knew that. I send it back to them, they take $480 off the price of the Note. I decided not to drive myself nuts over whether it was a technically good deal or not. I loathed the Pixel and I wanted the Note and I am going to get it for a monthly fee that's half of what it would be otherwise.
One thing did bug me. the fine print in the email said that they figured the tax they charged me on the Note price being 990.00 which is not what they are charging for it. But I'm going to get what I want. I'm getting a free case in exchange for reviewing it (that deal is in another thread), and once I get the phone, Samsung has a free wireless charger (and sd card but I have one from the Note 7) to apply for. I'm just going to go with it, I really want the Note.

I have to tell you guys, this Note 8, for us Note users, looks pretty sweet. My camera on the Edge NEVER worked well, it got the blurry monster where you have to shake it before use (even then it doesn't work well). But Samsung is pushing it with the $960 MSRP. It's freaking outrages. I like to see price limits at $750 for any phone except for the Lamborghini ones they sell in Asia. haha

I pre-ordered 2 Notes last August and took advantage of the 2 year agreement to get the discount as I was month to month. I returned both Notes and received my refund. I am eligible for upgrades on both lines however, it still shows my contract expires 8-2018. I want to take advantage of the offer from Samsung and do the DPP and get the phone at but I don't want Verizon to give me issues. I purchased my current phones through Swappa so I own them. Any feedback on this would be helpful ss I have never purchased using DPP

Not being eligible for an annual upgrade, I'm reconsidering on even getting the Note 8 and might just wait for the S9+. They were headed in the right direction by implementing that option but now removing it? Smh, this and now throttling video quality. Might have to leave VZW

Here's the scoop on the Verizon 50% off including trade in. I knew there was a catch! If I trade in my Note 5, I receive the 50% off promo... HOWEVER, I NEED TO REMAIN WITH VERIZON FOR TWO YEARS IN ORDER TO RECOUP THE PROMO PRICE. In other words, it's a CONTRACT and I thought VZ was moving away from contracts! If I port out or pay off the phone prior to the two years, my balance is based on the $40.00 per month rather than the $20.00 per month. This promo is simply another way to lock folks into Verizon. If that's what you want, go for it.

The note 5 is eligible for the 50% off? Wow. I was just going to get it from best buy and sell the note 5, but trading it in for 50% off sounds much better!

Welcome to carrier discounts . They used to offer it upfront and people abused it so now they offer discounts via bill credits to guarantee service.

Agreed, this is not new. All Verizon phone deals for at least a year have been structured as monthly credits that require you to stay for 24 months to get the discount. On the right sale you can get great deals.

S7E Trade Breakdown

I just pre ordered my Note 8 and I am getting $480 by turning in my S7E. I am pretty excited.

Was that 150 gift card and 330 in trade? I am only showing less than 200 for my S7E on their web page.

Not that it matters much since the back is the only place that isn't black and it's gonna be in a case anyway.
I just had to pay $65 to pay off my Note 5.
I had a Note 7 that worked fine and I still miss it.

We switched back to Verizon from T-Mobile last night, TMo service throughout Montana isn't great especially where I live (Bozeman area), and I couldn't help but pre-order the Note 8 while I was there. They had a demo unit that I was messing with while waiting for a free CSR and man is it a beautiful device!

Is VZW lying to me?

I was all set to pre-order the Note 8 until I noticed it no longer says the device is eligible for upgrade after 50% is paid. I contacted a representative through the chat and I was assured it does qualify... Still skeptical, I called and was told the same thing. Has anyone been told anything different? I don't owe VZW for any device & I don't want to fall into a trap so to speak. I'm a phone junkie, and I don't want to be stuck paying for any device in full before I can upgrade again.

Nevermind I see what you are saying. That's weird it doesn't say that. Normally I would assume the note 8 will automatically fall into the annual upgrade program but thought that when I got my S7E and it's not so I don't even know anymore.
