Verizon is crazy!! (Plz help!0

Correct or not, I m telling you what I personally witnessed and what the Verizon rep told me when I walked into the store. Did I pay a deposit? No. But I m also not lying about the letter I recieved quoting a $2000 deposit.

The 2000 dollar figure would be correct for five lines of service, not two. You may have originally told the rep you wanted only two, but the sales reps often run an application for a total of five, in case you think of someone else you may want a phone for or to qualify you for mobile broadband or home phone connect

Idk. All I know is I have a family of three, one of which is only two years old. So there were only two lines of service, and I didn't speak with a rep, I entered my information online and got the letter in the mail three days later. We went into the store to speak with them there, they pulled it up, said it was incorrect. We sign the contract that day. Two lines, no deposit.

The auto loan was in good standing correct? I assume they saw a big loan taken out and were concerned about the ability to pay back? I checked with Verizon a few years back regarding another line and there was no deposit required. I was 23 at the time and I just took out a loan for about $33,000 on a new Acura. But again I'm unsure of your credit rating compared to mine so that's always a factor.

Yeah man, it was fine. They just saw a new loan and for whatever reason made me give them a hundred bucks. Not like anything most people hear.

What else may have happened here, and did happen to me at AT&T, they did run my credit and approved me for three lines. I only asked for and opened one line. I'm not sure if it's a field they can change in stores or not. Perhaps Amazon always runs the highest amount of lines. None of this makes any sense as you didn't have to pay anything in the end, though. 5*0=0
Clearly Amazon just made a mistake somewhere along the way.

My understanding is that they do not look at their number score. Its about how many late payments and passed due accounts. I mean in the end it will result in a lower score. Either way go into the Verizon store. I went to both att and Verizon before I jumped ship from Sprints dial up network. In my area they both have great signal in my area. I just found GSM technology better for my needs.

The highest Verizon charges is $400 deposits per line at most. A $2000 dollar deposit doesn't exist

I thought that the Walmart plan, while unlimited in name, may cancel you if you use over 2-3gb or something like that

If they ran the check multiple times for two lines, wouldn't that multiply the deposit? I've done something like that online, click the button, nothing happens for over a minute, click click.... clickidy click click click, bam, 20 credit checks on my credit report, wtf. This was for a credit card or some sort of loan many years ago. Needless to say, it got denied because of the website being uber slow.

If there is bad credit issues they will require a deposit and if family plan its per line. It is refunded with interest. All carriers have deposits required if credit is iffy. If business acct can be higher. I once open an acct with a 600 deposit. They wanted verizon and paid it

$1000 deposits did exist, although they were extremely rare. I know I haven't seen one. Most I have seen recently is $400.

That's pretty much what happened. I think I mentioned it in a prior post, but others seem to keep telling me that there is no deposit that high. The $2000 deposit was incorrect, but not because it was "too high." It was incorrect because my credit was ran numerous times in a matter of minutes, causing too many hard credit inquiries on my credit score. I have never had a phone contract prior, or delinquent accounts. After going to the store, they pulled it up, noticed that it had been ran numerous times, spoke with someone on the phone, and came back to tell us that there was an error with the amazon wireless check, and that no deposit was required. Whether they could or would have charged us $2000 is irrelevant.
