Verizon LG G2: Word on KitKat?

When I see "No new software updates available" now I want to break this phone. :-\

I posted this in a VZW forum for G2.

This is the first phone I have had in a great long while that I wasn't too concerned with another update. GB to ICS to JB were big updates, but this KK seems to be slight speed improvement on an already fast phone. What bothers me is, what will be altered from the original Google KK and what will be cut or needlessly added-to our VZW version of that update. All I wanted was Tap and Pay. I have no issue with blue icons. I do have issue however, with some of the features that are blocked on our versions such as call blocking and lack of PC support software. But, in the end, coverage is what matters to us rural folks. I ran with T-Mobile for all of 1 week before I realized that even in a city of 75k that the T-mobile coverage was weak and that unlimited data was useless. The S4 I tried on that network suffered horribly bad battery life because of it. But, after losing my unlimited data on my Droid Maxx I was able to get into a loyalty plan for a year. So, it worked out for me OK for the most part. I switched because of slow updates and prices. I switched back because of reliability. I know that doesn't really follow the thread regarding the KK update, but a lot of people are switching mad because of this slow roll out.

It's like this all the time. When I had the s3 everyone on xda was losing their minds (myself included) waiting for the 4.3 update, and now it's KK driving everyone mad. Verizon does a lot of testing. Other companies release bug-ridden updates.
Pick your poison.

It's funny you used the s3 as an example and then go on to mention "other companies release bug-ridden updates". Whether it was samsung or Verizon, my wife's s3 sucks after the 4.3 update. Really laggy, poor battery life, WiFi always complaining about unstable WiFi, etc. Anyways I hope you are right that the reason for the delay is so Verizon can work the bugs out.

There are many reasons I would leave Verizon but with work paying for my phone I am not going to complain.

I'm stuck. Big red is the only good service around me.
My wife and I and two oldest kids are on plan under my mother in laws name because we get her 20% discount on service and accessories.

Verizon knows a good majority dont know what each update contains so they can remove some features not all people are super geeky like us. im surprised they dont block google maps navigation for us to pay for vzw navigator.

If they ever did remove Google maps (I know they wouldn't) or any Google product I would hope Google would be done with them for good.

Just checked mine. Still no update 😢

The only bugs that Verizon has control over are the ones they introduce. Otherwise why not just release what LG gives them?

if the other carriers have the stock email client working i'd say they were doing a better job than Verizon on checking for bugs on their releases on at least those two points. ATT released and patched a bug on their kitkat update.

Bleeding shame that even now, the LG Flex is slated to get android kitkat tomorrow. And nothing for us. I swear, this better be worth the wait lol. What if they hold up is because they are jumping past 4.4.2?

I'm wondering if they are waiting to incorporate the knock code feature with the update and just push one update rather than two.

Hope so but very unlikely, seems lg already has a update being certified which thay have already made for other carriers.

At this point it just seems punitive and I know the update isn't that big of a deal, but still . . . .

Just wanted to say that I wasn't getting it OTA, but I did like Mike770 and 0331 stated and connected my phone to my computer. It installed the Software Upgrade Assistant, and indeed found 4.4.2.
