Verizon Lollipop is here!!!

I got the OTA yesterday, seems to run smoothly but have one issue - I'l get an audible alert that I have a message/text/event/ etc, but when I look at the lock screen I'm not seeing any icons in the notification bar. Once I unlock the phone I see them all.

I did go into the Notification settings and changed from 'Show all notification's to 'Hide all notifications' but isn't that the actual pop-ups on the home screen - not the icons in the upper left? I just want to see what type of message I have (text, work mail, email, calendar, etc) - not the contents of it. Just like I had before..

did you try a reboot? I kept getting the prompt to update it but everytime I tried I just has the option to Open it. I rebooted and after that it allowed me to update.

How do you update Google play service?

Try clearing cache in system recovery. You may have to do the dreaded factory reset. If you FR, be sure to back up data.

I ended up doing a factory reset. I'm glad I had saved my phones to another source earlier in the day as now all those photos are gone of course.

No problems after doing the factory reset.

I received notice of availability of OTA update yesterday morning. Did the update last night. It took 15 minutes to download over 12mbps DSL and another 10 minutes to install.

Performance so far seems about the same. I use Nova Launcher, so may be missing some of the cosmetic changes outside the new navigation button icons and notification cards. The notification bar and button bar at the top and bottom of the screen were transparent initially then later I noticed they were bright orange. I thought I'd changed something while I was messing around but it was orange because my battery was low. That must be new as I'd never seen it before. Battery life seems about the same if anything may be a touch better.

The only lag I've experienced is when clearing the recent applications screen. Before it would clear almost instantly when I hit the clear all button. Now it takes a few seconds. Also, I noticed a couple times today the google calendar agenda widget struggled to load data. The only time I experienced this in the past was following a re-boot. Today it was just random. Even if the widget data hasn't loaded if I click on the header the calendar comes up promptly with all my data loaded. I'm testing a couple different brand widgets as possible replacement should this issue continue.

The only other holdup I had was trying to setup "smart lock". I was following directions that Verizon published yesterday and that option wasn't available. There's another post on this site from December that has a good solution to that.

So as far as I can tell this update is nothing to write home about and certainly doesn't seem to be worth all the fanfare that would be expected for a major os version update. Luckily for me I haven't experienced (yet) some of the horror stories I've been reading about. My main wish was for better battery life. Good luck to all who venture forth with this update.

Is anyone else having trouble updating apps through Google Play? The downloads get to a certain point, then just stop. This does not affect Amazon Appstore downloads. At least I'm getting some download over WiFi.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's just easier to do a factory reset, especially when downloading apps from Amazon weren't installing (I saw that before when switching between Dalvik and ART).

Did you guys notice they actually removed Softcard since it was preinstalled and support ended 3/31. I'm not happy with battery life yet. I cleared cache from storage menu and from recovery and even tried a factory reset. Also the charging seems slower to me.

Battery life seems worse to me as well. I haven't used the phone a full day for work yet, after doing factory reset. Maybe it gets better.

Found this on the update instructions :

Battery life expectations
post a major OS upgrade:
1. The application memory areas may have to be
optimized. This can take time and cause the device
to temporarily use more battery while the optimization
is in progress.
2. It can take time for the new software to optimize
its performance and for the device’s battery life to
normalize, which generally takes 2- 3 days.
3. Downloaded applications may not be optimized
for the new OS version as application developers do not
immediately update their applications to support new
versions of the OS. This may result is higher than normal
battery drain and in some cases device sluggishness
until the application is updated
or removed.

And now I'm having issues with Helium. The computer says that it's enabled, but the phone continues to hang on waiting for the desktop application to send the signal. Helium worked on Kitkat, so why isn't it working on Lollipop?

EDIT: Nevermind again, apparently I was using an old version of the desktop app (still called Carbon). New version fixed that.

Update is going well except for one lil hick up. Im not getting any hang out notifications and it only refreshes if open the program. Thats for messages not sms. Anyone else have the same problems?

Having the same problem as well. Hangout messages are delayed. After updating did a factory reset and still the same.

The driver version I used 2 days ago from LG's website is 2.20.0 and that worked for me. Those who are having issues trying might want to try uninstalling their existing driver then reinstalling it (using the 2.20.0 version of course). When I tried it failed initially, then after I uninstalled and reinstalled the driver it installed the upgrade tool then proceeded to download the update (make sure you unplug your phone first when you uninstall and reinstall). If all else fails then the only other option is to wait for the OTA update. After my phone finished updating, I did a full reset (as I always do when upgrading) so I can start with a fresh/clean install to avoid any potential issues.

I got the update as soon as it was made available. The update went fine. My phone works considerably faster. Zero glitches. I had to update 3 of my apps, since I was using older apps that worked better than their upgrades, but other than that, it's fine.

That is from the WiFi sync problem with Lollipop and the G3. All your Google stuff won't sync when WiFi is turned on. And is very slow even with it off. Incoming phone calls on Hangouts doesn't work with WiFi on.
