You have to use the Verizon software upgrade assistant on your desktop. Lg G3 Verizon VS985 update from 12B to 23C. 5.0.1:)

Just an hour ago, I noticed I didn't have the VS98512b update. I used the LG Update Tool to download and install. When my phone woke up it had VS98523c and 5.0.1 Lollipop. That was unexpected. So far it is working without any glitches.

I got a lot of lag after the update I didn't have with KK. Did a hard reset, still have some lag. Gonna power cycle the phone and see if that helps.

Lollipop might take hours to settle in. I recommend a factory reset if you're upgrading.

Ok, so how do I get VZW updater to recognize my phone? I have the drivers installed from LG, the software updater from Verizon installed, phone plugged in using the USB cable that came in box, and it it still not recognizing my phone? I will act like it is getting my phones information, then nothing happens.

You need the phone driver from the LG website. Then when the pc sees the phone, it should download the Verizon software upgrade assistant.

Did you install the specific driver for one of the 3 Verizon models?

Worked perfectly. Thanks for the info. After upgrade, I cleared cache in system recovery and updated apps that needed updating. Runs smooth.

Well I have model LG VS985. I downloaded the drivers off the LG support website for the LG VS985, which are LG_VZW_United_WHQL_v2.2.0. Is that not the correct driver for this phone?

Yes. That is the correct driver. If you installed drivers after download, plug your Lg G3 into a USB port. In Windows 8.1 a popup appears in the upper right corner of monitor. Tap the popup and a menu will open asking what you want to do. Click "Run VerizonSW Upgrade Assistant Launcher". Follow any other on screen instructions. Takes about 20-25 mins.

Thanks. I was able to upgrade to 5.0.1 with the VZW Upgrade Assistant.

In regards to durango992007's issue, and this may not be the same issue/scenario, but I'm having issues with connecting to a Windows 8.1 laptop. I am able to connect my phone to both my desktop and laptop that are on Windows 7. But my Windows 8.1 laptop, I cannot get it to recognize the phone so i cannot use that one. I've tried the various troubleshooting tips I've found searching but to no avail. FWIW.

The update appears to be gone. I updated mine this morning, (the download took hours even though we have cable) but my son has the same phone and his says "up to date" even though he's on 12b. Anyone else having any luck since early this morning?

I started downloading around 12:30 PM EDT.

Still nothing. I should have noted that I do use a Windows 8.1 desktop, but I just tried it on my Windows 7 computer and still get nothing. It starts off by saying it is getting device information, then goes blank. For me, I have a very short window to launch the upgrade assistant because my phone will go into MTP mode in just a few seconds. Could that be what is causing the problem? I mean, I am able to get it open and running, if I am quick, but then the phone goes into MTP mode.

I'm connected but the update doesn't show up in upgrade assistant. Oh well, I'll wait for OTA
