Verizon Lollipop Update Killed LTE

My roommate still rocks a LG G3 with Verizon (I had one with T-Mobile up until 8 weeks ago) and since the Lollipop update his phone has lost LTE connectivity. He's done three factory resets (two in the store) and replaced the SIM card. Today the guy at the store told him this was a known "software issue" with Lollipop on the G3 and he would have to "cope" until such time as Verizon saw fit to fix it.

This sounds more fishy than a San Francisco fish market.

Has anyone else heard of this issue cropping up on the VZW G3?

Forget the guy in the store -- most of them are there to sell data plans. They do very little support in the stores now. I've not seen anyone talk of LTE connectivity just plain failing after the Verizon update. Having said that, it is possible that the update was somehow corrupted. Doing a reset with a bad software load doesn't fix anything.

If the phone was working prior to the recent update (pushed during the last week), then maybe VZW can push the update again. You'd have to ask them. Were it my device, I'd be calling VZW tech support from a different phone to get them to either push the update again or replace the device. Verizon released the G3 at the end of June last year, so I'd expect that it is still under warranty unless your roommate bought it on release day.

And if the phone is no longer covered, I'd call anyway. IF their forced OS update killed the basic functionality, I'd still ask them to replace it. Verizon has been really good about replacing G3 devices while they and LG sort this update fiasco.
