Verizon Marshmallow Incoming Today 2/16

OK, so on the plus side, battery life for me has been significantly better the last two days.

On the negative side, I am having sound issues. After sending a couple text messages, everything seems to go silent. No more sounds from keyboard, no more sound when swiping the screen or tapping on and off. Also, when I make a bluetooth call in my car, it does not ring through the stereo but the sound does come thru when the call connects.

Also, the location symbol stays present in the status bar even when location is turned off.

Rebooting fixes the sound issue until I send a couple texts and it starts all over again. (using google messenger app and thumb keyboard)

Going to try a FDR this weekend when I have some time... hopefully that will fix things.

Mostly the same here... The location debacle here too, see screen shot below. As you'll see, location is off, but yet something accessed location. Notice the time in notification area vs. time location was found. I had disable the weather app prior, so thats not it.

ALSO, same sounds issue. My Verizon version emits the ringback sound (you know, the sound you hear when you're calling someone) randomly, as if its calling someone on speaker phone.
SAME loss of notification sounds, but I use Verizons Messenger app, and Swift keyboard, so its not a specific app issue.

On my PLUS side (the Only Plus side) MM update fixed all my touch screen issues.

I have the ominous 505-serial number version, and actually hoping it WILL die, so I can replace it.

Mine has been doing random, weird stuff for a while. Not the same things, but equally as annoying and randomly. Sometimes I swear I got the G4 HE version (Haunted Edition) ;).

I haven't had any sound issues (I use Handcent for texts), but I think if anything my touch issues got worse. If I press and hold, like on a keyboard letter, it'll make a bunch of random and repetitive letter entries instead of bringing up the long touch options. I don't really have any knock on/off issues like others, though.

I think most of the problems with MM is because apps are not compatible with the doze feature or a permission was changed during the update. I downloaded mm over a week ago & have been playing with it since. The only issues I have had are: text ringtone, even though settings showed the correct one, something else would play. Changed to Textra - problem solved. A permission in the Photos app was not activated so the backup did not work properly. Gps was on constantly even though location was off & gps was not activated - my solution was to turn off all gps permissions, until I get around to fixing. I use location app but don't need gps at present.
Other good things that are not discussed much are:
can "disable" apps instead of just force stopping - now able to remove most Bloat without rooting
can change permissions on all apps
I have Greenify which has a feature to immediately put phone in doze instead of doing it after an hour. This feature is useful & works great if you want to maximize standby time, like I do (I am a very light user, except when we go on extended trips)

Me too, I've been vocal about the battery life but my phone is slow to hook up to sites via wifi which is annoying and also does random weird stuff also. Disappointed with MM all around.

So with my phone still not waking up after being asleep for a while (2 or 3 minutes at times, 5 or 10 seconds others) and not being able to figure it out. Most of the time I have to do a battery pull to get the phone to turn back on.
I called Verizon tech support last week and they had me do a reset (cache data, not a full factory reset)
Today since I was driving past the Verizon wireless store I got it from, I went in and asked them what was up.
A guy messed with it for about 5 minutes then told me Verizon would be sending me a new phone.
I don't really want a new phone, I just want the one I have to act right and run as good as it did before it got MM.
What if I couldn't get to the battery, it would be a brick.
I have loved this phone until getting MM, I'm hoping getting a new one it will have MM out of the box and will run better or at least as good this one did.
These problems creeping up and just me not liking anything about what I have read and seen about the G5, I will have second thoughts before pulling the trigger on another LG phone.

I had the same problem with the phone not waking. I called LG and they had me send it in for repairs. I might suggest instead of a battery pull try plugging in the phone to charge (either wall plug or portable power source). I know it's a pain but easier than a battery pull especially if you have a case.

I bit the bullet, made sure everything was backed up properly and did a full factory reset on my G4 last night. The battery drain issue seems to have resolved itself as so has the not waking up problem I was having. I am going to give it a few days before I rest easy on these issues. I kinda thought a factory reset might take care of the problem just did not want to do it.
This is my first LG phone, I have been a big fan of the Samsung Galaxy S phones. Having owned all except the G5, "I owned the G6 right after it came out and returned it 7 days later never to look back at it again", after each time they received a major software update I had to do a full factory update to get the phone right again. I was really hoping that might NOT be the case with the LG G4 but I was seemingly mistaken, time will tell.
I will update here if there are further problems but for now I will consider my issues resolved and hope my experiences can help some of you other folks having problems with your Verizon variant of the G4 since updating to Marshmallow 6.0.
Good luck y'all.

My G4 battery life is much worse than it was before this update. I can't stand it! I used to go all day, with medium usage and by 6pm, still have 30-40% battery left. I monitored it closely yesterday and by 6:30, I had 14%.
It's like every time I turn the screen on, the battery has dropped a percent. I wish I could revert back to Lollipop. None of the "upgrades" with Marshmallow are worth the horrible battery life.
On top of that, the update in November (VS98613B) had finally fixed my issue where Gmail would not sync automatically on WiFi. Whatever they changed, suddenly my emails were coming in real time. Now...I'm back to having to manually refresh my inbox, where I'll get a bunch of emails at once with time stamps from hours ago.
Really hating this update.

From my most previous post, my G4 even after doing a full factory reset went back to not waking up again.
I have Verizon's warranty plan, they sent me a new or refurb. phone. I can't tell which it is. It looks new and runs like new.
I wiped my old phone, uploaded contacts and pics to the new phone and it is working like my old phone did brand new out of the box. Fast, flawless, great battery life and wakes up when I ask it to.
I didn't want to give up my old phone but I couldn't live with it the way it was acting and isn't that what the warranty plan is for?
Good luck to those of you still having problems!

I sent my phone back to LG 2/26. They received it on Monday 2/29 fixed it that day they said it was a touchscreen issue. They shipped it that same day 2/29 and had it back to me on Thursday 3/3. To me the screen appears to be much crisper than before I sent it back. That could be that I was using an HTC One M7 as my backup. Glad Verizon was able to take care of you. I thought of that but wasn't sure how that would go over after buying my phone at Costco.
