Verizon messed with the WiFi Toggle in the notification area

Does leaving wifi on really impact battery life? I'm coming from "all iPhone" smartphone past and leaving wifi on all the time had no effect on battery life. Which is good because it's a PITA to turn on and off on the iPhone.

Yeah on android the radios use battery life even if they aren't being used and only turned on. On iOS the radios go into a suspended state when they aren't being used so they don't drain the battery. I typically install an app like juice defender that shuts my radios off when the screen is off. Personally I don't toggle radios during the day. I hate having to manage the system. I leave them all on so they are ready to go when I need them and let juice defender shut them off for me.

Will the Iphone 5 get this same treatment
